DIGGER

I
Serious question. Why does the amount a movie makes or loses inform a decision on whether or not you personally will decide to see it? Fair enough if you want to post poor reviews, but why articles like that? Just makes it feel like an anti-cinema bandwagon.

For reference, here are some movies that famously “bombed” at the box office;
Citizen Kane
Fight Club
Blade Runner
The Shawshank Redemption
The Big Lebowski
Donnie Darko

Ok?

Without spoiling it for you… There’s a very clear reason for that and it’ll make sense if you stick with it for at least a quarter of the movie.
I made up my own mind to see this i walked out after 1 hour.

Cinema tickets are about 5 quid these days.

If you've got a load of voucher codes or pick a 3am screening maybe :p

Not accurate
Does it really matter? Those movies would be put through the social media ringer if they made those numbers today. Like Digger. My point is don’t judge a movie by how much money it makes. And you can’t add home entertainment earnings when you’re comparing a movie still currently in its theatrical run.

No arguments here. Although you did remind me there’s technically two reveals, the second is much later and provides even more context :p

It was more because of a couple sitting too close talking more than the movie im not trying to get into fights
I still want to finish it Thomas said 3rd of november rent or buy so ...

So I watched Digger today. I enjoyed it. The trailers are terrible though and don't accurately portray the film. The thing is I'm not sure it is possible to make a suitable trailer for this.

The film itself is very indulgent and was never going to be a mass appeal film. At times it is a real mess and at other times it disappears up its own backside so far that all light is extinguished.

There are some great performances in this but at times it thinks it is far cleverer than it is. At several stages you think the cast are completely lacking in any self awareness and devoid of any sense of introspection and then something will happen that makes you think they are actually very aware of how they are coming across and it is all intentional. A lot of it tries too hard but still just about manages to succeed - just.

It is hard to really review this without spoiling things though.

One thing I will say is that this film was never going to make money with a budget as high as $180m.

Id go and see it just for the freaky cat
I’d imagine that cat in the trailers lost them £150m alone. So off putting :o

Seriously the marketing team for this need to take the hit here. Awful. But I work in the industry.. nothing will be said. They’ll get their next result and take all the credit for a fantastic movie taking loads of money :o
