Remember even if you win these competitions you don't win anything.

How many "winners" can you still remember?

6 months after winning its back to working anyway.

Then before the public catch on that no one ever wins anything they change the name of the program.

Some of that (maybe even all of it) is true, but still, your face is known and you're more likely to be listened to within 'the biz' if you get to the latter stages of a talent competition as big as X-factor or any of the others.

As for how many I can remember.

Will Young, Gareth Gates, Shayne Ward, Darius Danesh, Rik Waller, Alex Parks, Chico, David Sneddon...

And I don't watch any of them!
