I think it would be possible to do that with DX10.0 tho, its just they want to rake in more money obviously.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

RoachycaL said:I was watching dl.tv today and they had a guy on who helped to make DX10. He said that the difference between DX10 and 10.1 is the same difference between directx 9 and 9.c or whatever its called. He basically said that its insignificant even though you needed new cards to use 9c. I personally don't recall there being an uproar when 9c came out requiring new cards for it to be installed. mrk said:Yeah but the thing is with 10.1 you get major performance benefits if the paper info is anything to go by.
Mandatory 4xFSAA uncapped for one which is a big thing in itself for many gamers and hints at the power of a dx10.1 enabled gfx card.
LoadsaMoney said:Yep 4xMSAA for free in Dx10.1.
8igdave said:Considering the cards needed to run dx10.1 Id imagine it wouldn't make much difference if it wasn't for "free" so to speek and you did loss some fps. Which you probably still do anyway lol.

But for now i've already had my £3XX of fun out of my 8800 GTX a million times over! £300 is only 6 nights out for a lot of people. I don't drink so i feel if i upgraded to say the newest, most powerful graphics card every 3 months its easily justified.
I've tried to convince my other half of this way of thinking and she just looks at me funny?![]()
8igdave said:I would look at you funny to. I enjoy playing games. Buildings pcs and all. But id never let it take over my life and id never allow it to cost so much. If i upgrade a pc its gota last at least a year and ahalf if its somthing expensive. So far every pc ive had ive used for 3 years before getting a totaly new one. The pc i currently have is 3 yearas old with its g6800GT.
Why do you need a new card every 3 months? The old ones are powerful enough to run the games. Think how much money youve spent which could have gone else where. Like holidaysSpend it on your other half

While many are declaring this as a move which will make current generation hardware redundant, we can assure you that current hardware, such as the 8800 and 2900 series cards, can already support the features of the new API.
