DiRT 4

you really need to try all different cars and all different surfaces.they all react differently.the fiesta and r2 cars that you start with are stupidly slow and handle badly like they are on rails.its to build you up for the higher speed cars and as it gets harder.

play for a day not a hr or two then re access. just played with the pug 306 on tarmac pushed it as hard as i could.absolutely amazing.

definitely use the latest nvidia and amd drivers.

as for handling then if you get it right its better overall than dirt rally.

pue check my video on the tarmac maximum attack i did last night with the peugeot 306 maxi.that combo is amazing.

just ignore the R2 cars they are like trainer wheels.after that most cars are really good.surfaces are totally different so it takes a bit of practice.im just starting to get it dialed in a bit now and im about 40 hrs in.thats not will all the cars about half maybe.some i havent even driven yet.so its not a 1-2 hr fair judgement thing.

nice work but..as you say watch what you mess with as it may get you banned online.there will be patches and tweaks being worked on.remember its been out one day.

Dirt rally was decent but somethings were wrong so you shouldn't be trying to replicate that handling.

as said already wait for patches one day out.the core is good rwd cars and gravel need a tweak.tarmac is fine.

Is anyone playing this with a G29 ok?. Dirt rally thinks my G29 is a controller again. I am sure its just the game as project cars and other games work great :)

should work fine as some of the devs play it on a g29. so maybe you got something wrong your end.

make sure you adjust your car set ups for each car.people are starting to find that the set ups can be massive.some are decent at default but some are not great and just so people can drive them.

i just tried for the first time the renault alpine.on spain.that is amazing.almost worth buying the game for.once you get used to it can throw it into hairpins slide round them.its amazing.

you can adjust the calls to be earlier or later in settings.one of my favs is a 6 that gets called in australia and its a bad hair pin :p

wheel transforms things. try and pick up a logitech dfgt 2nd hand for £50 or buy a new logitech g29 for about £130 new when on offer.

been testing Dirt rally 2.0 since start. really going to be brilliant. a wheel wont be wasted.

t150 is decent about same spec as a logitech g29 but minus the gear lever. you will have flappy paddles on it. the thing is you can add to it but you wont have a clutch.

its one of the best budget wheels.

yeah you can add on to the thrustmaster base wheel. i was just saying from the £130 one you buy you will just have accelerator and break no gearstick. you can add gearstick , handbrake and new pedals. thats another 500 quid on top though. :p

dirt 4 is quite easy compared to dirt rally and dirt rally 2.0 is even better. the focus on handling is unreal. along with other things which i cant discuss yet. :D

takes a bit of practice. try to learn with assists off. you will end up far better and a lot faster. the car will handle more naturally aswell with no assists on.
