yes they do the thing is if you already have a vac ban on your account it more or less is just a free pass to cheat.

if you are caught out so what ?

atleast if people with clean accounts can only play then you stand to lose something if you caught ;)currently you don't.
 
To be honest people could just get a new account if their current one is VAC banned so I don't really see the issue with it being a lifetime (or at least long-term) ban. It's not as if you get tons of VAC bans happening to innocent people.

edit: It's not like me to agree with Dg but he's right on this one :p
 
cheat detection is a massive game of whack a mole, always on the back foot as new cheats are created and new ways of cheating fall in and out of favor.
I recall back in CS 1.something cheating being absurdly rampant, I even at one point ran cheats (aimbot/wallhack etc) but found that so may others ran them too it became a question of how low your ping was as everything else was instant.
Lifetime bans are not the answer, but maybe a 6 month ban from all steam online games if you're busted for cheating?
Having said that it would have to be a lot better than it is now as it's getting loads of false positives.

Nah I don't have a MW2 vac ban so not saying what you'd expect ;)

I know loads of people that have cheated in the past as kids, they are now 20 something functioning nice people who did something dumb when they were a kid, people grow up. Of course there will always be a minority that cheat because that is the part of gaming they enjoy and no bans will stop that.

I think this is why the increasing move away from dedicated/private servers is ultimately a terrible thing for online gaming.

So do you think that temporary bans would be okay?

Because if someone is caught cheating and permanently banned they can make a new account and be playing again in minutes.

They won't care that they lose their progress as that is unimportant to a cheater.

They can't be VAC banned in Dirty Bomb. We're talking about VAC bans from alternative games.
 
One of my codes was invalid due to too many characters in the first block. It should be XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. A bit of guessing and it worked.

just reply to teh trust i've not thrown any codes away so i can double check them

because they can just make a new steam account. banning people from other games would only work if the system was totally locked down and you couldn't suddenly create a new one.

Even if they were banned from another game they could easily just create a new account and play Dirty bomb on it. People who learn from it wear their badge of shame of get on with it. People who don't will just create a new account anyway.

Thank you for the code anyway :D.

I've only experienced one hacker myself. He was behind our spawn one shotting us all as we spawned with a handgun :(. Finally killed the sod and he just teleported back :(. My first DB rage quit :D.

Then again I'm ****e so everyone is aimboting according to me :D.

made my day.
not sure how they thought I was cheating when I was 16/12, maybe because they kept camping in exactly the same spot and I killed them every time?
