Dirty Dirty!

I was more questioning the tense.

You do seem to have a habit of rooting for the past-it underdog, especially judging by your sig. I get the impression that if you wanted to buy some Fast Food you'd see out a Wimpy, and you'd buy Pepsi over Coke ;)

There are smatterings about it all over the web. Telegraph articles that lean more to the designs for the replacement 45 being shoved into a 1 series when the last area of Rover was sold. Project R55 was the concept if memory servers and later became R30 IIRC.

It was more likely to be the first massed produced RWD MG offering a FWD platform for the Rover variants with transversely mounted Tritec (presumably 1.6 litre?) and Hamms Hall produced NG4 cylinder engines. Just never made it.

There was also information relating to the R30/1Series after a visit to the ex Longbridge plant which showed information highlighting a 70% sharing in origins of the R30 and 1 Series
