Dirty stinking lying conmen

Just to clarify my above statement. It makes a big difference to the wallet =P

BUT!!!

I would not buy a £2 cable, regardless of the quality of image, I cant see the standard of the cable itself being up to the same standard as say something around the £6-£8 mark. I could imagine HDMI ends breaking off, etc with the cheapo cheap ones. So would spend a little more just for build quality.

You can charge what you like for a cable, if people are dumb enough to buy them - the really shocking bit is that they compared scart to HDMI, and told the shopper they were both HDMI - that's not just mis-selling, it must be fraud, sureley?

Look's like he's covered himself pretty well, which just annoys me even more tbh :p:(

Technically while giving the demo he did say 'Cheap lead' but because of the conversation before he gave the impression he was talking about cheap HDMI.

In dimples retirement, I bet he will just go around all the tech shops trolling them and then sacking every member of staff until they get tech literate ones. He will be known as the batman of Stoke.

**Feels a bit silly with his vast array of QED one cables and my QED Quenex for my PS3**
Was also about to order a QED Quenex DVI cable :-(

Oh man you should have slammed that flake! Good detective work though :D

This is one thing that REALLY annoys me - the "gold" plated £40 (or whatever) cables are "better" and give a "better signal" blah blah blah.

All my HDMI cables are cheap unbranded ones that work flawlessly. One of them is even 15 meters long! Cheap they may be but solidly built.

All these cables are doing is shuttling 1s and 0s. Thats it. The 1s and 0s do not know that "Belkin" is stamped on the plastic outside and then decide to move faster forming a more orderly line to flow more neatly into your HDTVs HDMI socket.

Yet for each one of us who sees through this con - another 1000 get taken for a ride.

I need to recap on the point of this thread because some are missing it.
By all means talk about cheap HDMI cables v expensive HDMI cables but that isn't what happened at the store.

The sales guy compared SCART to HDMI in the demo and of course we all know there is a massive difference.

I went into one of these stores to pickup a digital tv box as I was visiting a relative and offered to help fit it.

This store had three models all varying in price. But if you looked at the back of each of them they were 100% identical. The manufactures had come up with three different plastic fronts for them to make them look cheaper or more expensive.

Yup, no different to the way that they generally only have decent feeds into the more expensive or higher profit tv's too, my local store is still using RF feeds into all theirs except a select few.

Cant get over how blatant they get! Arent they afraid that one day someone (like you) will catch them out?? Hes lucky you didnt raise a stink but hes sure got it comin! :D

That well-known store named after a food we all like is infamous for its brainwashing on non-tech people (or just people with weak will-power).

I was once there just looking at TVs on display (before heading to Amazon of course!) and saw this girl come in lookin for a laptop to do her essays and general browsing on. Thats ALL she wanted. Her budget she said was £300 max.

The sales guy she got was slicker than an oily eel in the shadow of a North Sea rig. To cut a long story short - she left after throwing £620 for a higher spec model and even got roped in for the "accidental damage cover" trap.

100% true. If you buy the £50 cable instead of the £8 one you would have to drink 28 bottles of ale to make up the difference.

Tbqfh the fifty pound lead will end up with a clearer picture than the eight pound one will give you after twenty eight bottles of ale....
Less headache too.
Buy expensive leads, saves your liver.
