it's her problem. you don't get a chance for happiness everyday. if she's willing to wreck it with narrowmindedness then, as james.miller so eloquently put it, sod her.
Yeah, at least she's not ginger eh...

Hmmm you say shes not racist?? but yet makes a funny face when you mention shes mixed race??..hmmm strange one that is....

Don't be ridiculous and that goes for anyone else thinking along the same lines. Just because a mother would prefer her son to have a relationship with someone of the same colour and creed as her son and her own family does not make her racist.

If your mother sees that you are happy then she will be happy for you whatever her preferences.

this is what attempting to quit smoking does. it dissolves your sense of humour/patience for the same old jokes.
Good luck dude, spend the rest of the day taking your aggression out on me by calling me fat.

Exactly what I was gonna say. I think that sums it up perfectly.

And what would that "preference" as you call it, be based upon for the colour aspect?

Yes, it does.

If I got a job because I was the same colour as the boss and his/her other employess when there is an asian/black/mixed race person etc. that is better qualified that would be racism wouldnt it?
Exactly the same concept

LOL im not being ridiculous ya numbnut:p, just saying it how i see it tbh.

Although its nice that shes apologised for her behaviour, personally i wish more people would see people as people rather than their colour first tbqh.

My father disagreed with me marrying my wife (she's asian). Tough. It's my life. It's a pity we rarely talked after that though.

My uncle's a member of the BNP.

I've had girlfriends of many different skin tones.

He knows better than to mention it nowadays.

Well a difference in colour can often be a good guide of a difference in political and religious beliefs. A difference in a persons way of life etc all things that may cause difficulties and conflict in a relationship with their partner/partners family. A very simple guude and certainly in no way fool proof but a guide nethertheless.

I once dated a chinese girl for about a year. Her father took me aside one day after about a month and basicly said that he liked me but that i would never marry his daugter. He said he had no problemswith us dating indeffinately but that she WOULD marry a chinese lad no matter what. He was a nice bloke too and i found it a very odd experiance.

As it turns out we kinda drifted apart after the year for unrelated reasons but i never did mention it to her... she loved her father and i didnt want to cause problems. ( im white btw)

Different concept entirely and no that would not always be racism an employer should also take into account working relationships. If i chose to take on an assistant I would choose a person I thought I would get along with better and that sometimes may mean someone less qualified for the job.
