Discs need doing!...

Discs and pads came in at ~£120 for my dads laguna....then by the time you add labour your talking nearer your figure.

Gonna get the parts at half that price via my work and do the work ourselves to...£70 should do it.

He had a lookie at me Discs, and said they've got about 4-6monts life left in em!! (going on my average milage not the previous owners) and the Pads have probly 3-4 months!...

honda are presuming you will stick to the service schedule in which case those brakes would need doing before your next service, therefore they had little choice but to report them when they did.

if they hadn't reported that the brakes needed doing and the pads had gone causing your untimely (albeit unlikely) demise before the next recommended service interval then there's a chance that the service manager would be up on stand for gross neglect or some other trumped up charge.

most things are reported not for more work but to cover the garage independent or not from legal issues.

front brakes can be expensive on lagunas as the discs arent cheap, theres a few new cars now that have the bearing come with the discs and you could be looking at £70 per disc. also price and quality vary a lot depending on manufacture you cant go too far wrong with brembos but avoid the 'target' pads they squeak like buggery.

Nah mate thats just the front...2 discs at £40 each afaik and the pads where £35-£40 i think.

Not had a look at other makes but thats halfords prices.

damn, go to a motorfactor! Halfords must charge through the teeth then, even with my 278mm front discs it was only £150 for rear and front discs and pads in ferodo :s For the smaller 2L mondeo it was considerably less.
