Afternoon all,

In the process of ordering a bigger SSD for my laptop. What tools do you folks use for cloning over to the new drive? Usually I would just start fresh but in this case I have everything perfect and would rather not take it from scratch!

Just a tip - don't skip on creating the media recovery disk.. As it says, it fixes nearly all problems boot sector problems during the clone process.. but don't be put off.. it really is simple.

^^x2

The recovery boot cd has a fantastic 'fix boot problems' tool. Way better than the built in Microsoft tool.

I use this CD to fix boot issues that have got nothing to do with Macrium :)

Well worth paying for this software, UK based company. :)

With the paid version you can schedule daily/weekly/monthly backups.

I have heard people complain about Samsungs migration software but I have never had an issue. I migrated from a Kingston ssd to an 850 evo and the whole process took around 4 minutes!! I was amazed to say the least. I checked partitions boot sector everything and they were a perfect 1:1 Ratio.

It's incredibly simple to use and then you can use it to optimize windows for ssd pretty much just a few clicks to do everything.

I had a bad experience with acronis true image in the past, where it didn't properly mirror my boot sector and ended up having to do a clean install..

The software that comes with the Samsung Evo SSDS is pretty good I've had 0 issues using it. Just make sure you update it once installed from the disc.
