So over the last two days I've had this pop up a few times. It'll loop like this until I power down and then start it up again.

No hardware changes for months. Boot drive is a samsung 840 SSD I got relatively unused off MM maybe 6 months ago.

Naturally the first thing I did was back everything up in case of a worst case scenario, but I'd like to get to the bottom of it if you guys can help.

I'm in the OS now (no crashes at all once it boots in). chkdsk /r and no errors to fix. Any idea what I can do to track down the culprit?

cold boot could be down to memory/settings usually, idk it that would affect ssd detection

to find out the fw use magician tool or ssdlife and look to see,i think you can check for fw updates on the magician tool aswell

I updated my 840 a few months back so there has been an update

I'll give that a go and see if the problem persists. I have my image backed up so it wouldn't be the end of the world if it went belly up. I just don't want it to!

it will be fine, see if a fw update cures it if not maybe tweak your memory a little

as in add a touch of dram v or vccio

Nope, rebooted and got the error again after updating firmware. I have to say that the optimisation tool in the magician utility boosted my benchmark scores dramatically though, so was worth installing!

have you tried it on the other intel sata3 port?

and try with 1.08v cpu/vtt voltage if you have 8gb,maybe 1.10v if 16gb

and maybe one/two clicks more dram voltage and see if it still does it

another thing to try on gigabyte z77 is to spam alt and f10 keys just as splash screen shows to flash both backup and main bios chips with the same bios version, just incase its affecting things having two different bios versions on each chip

or if you have a physical bios switch on the board, switch to backup bios and flash the same f16 to it

ohh and few other things are to put any dvd drive on intel port 5 or any marvell ports and unplug any usb drives to see if its affecting bootups

I'll fiddle with my ram and controller volts (all at stock now) Not sure what port my optical drive is on, but it might be the Marvell controller already since I only relegate the slowest drives to it.

It just surprised me that it happened without any hardware changes. It does look like a hardware issue, but I hope not!
