Hi all,

I have a problem with my pc that started a week or so ago. Basically when I leave my computer for a few hours and come back the screen wont resume. The computer is still working. My Emby server is running in the background. But I have to do a hard reset on computer and then the monitor powers up again.

My specs are
2500k 4.5Ghz
Gigabyte z68 ud3p
970 gtx connected with display port to a philips gsync monitor

Try the below but if they don't work - i would suggest clearing the CMOS and running at stock clock and see if that resolves the issue - it could be your clock has degraded and needs tweaking.

DP issues do exist with the 9 and 10 series - lots of different fixes. Main one being turning off the monitor, and unplugging it for 10 minutes (odd i know but it's worked for me).

Yours would be odd in that it was working fine before - which would seem to indicate it may be somethings else.

Assuming you're using windows 10? If so has it updated to Creator recently and do you know if your problems coincided?

If you haven't done so already update to the latest drivers.

I would also try a different lead and or output (if you have one).

i had exactly the same issue running a 290x with the same CPU and motherboard recently. I went so far as to get a new card to sort this. I found that the hdmi slot worked for me on the card. Have you tried the other ports on the card?

Hi guys,

thanks for the replies. I have tried putting everything back to stock and it still fails. I can recreate the problem faster by going into sleep mode. Normally I have my computer on all of the time. I'll try the other ports but the problem is my monitor only works on display port as it's a G-sync monitor. So I can try another screen.

I also tried another display port cable and the same problem!

I did install the creators update at around the same time as the problems started and I have updated to the latest Nvidia drivers. I used DDU uninstaller as well to get rid of any remnants of a previous install.

The unfortunate reality is the HDMI cable would probably work - but the ideal is, and in your case the only option, to get the DP working.

Creator could very well be the cause as it's caused varied graphical issues - the main one being fixed with the latest nVidia patch.

You could roll back windows to the time just before Creator update?

UPDATE

I tried the 970 with hdmi and the same problem :(

So I thought I could try another card I had lying around. I installed an AMD 5450. Low and behold the same problem! So at least I know it's not the card. So it is related to something else.

Yea I have the latest bios available for the board U1G. I have discovered the the computer is not running in the background. So when I put the computer to sleep it won't wake up. The computer powers up and the fans spin etc.

I may have made some progress. I removed fast boot and put the os option in bios back to default from the selected win 8 and now the computer sleeps.

I think I spoke too soon. The problem is still there :( Maybe it might be time to finally upgrade this rig!

From me experience of Gigabyte boards is that power settings can be very temperamental even if you remove overclocks. If you have not done so i would clear the CMOS and start again as any overclocked PC should not be going to sleep.

Right.... So I seemed to have cured the problem for now by re-installing windows 10. I just did the built in re-install which maintained my files. And all is well again. Now I have to setup my overclock again and hope it doesn't break everything again. If I'm honest I have never really been a fan of this motherboard from the start (it suffered from the dreaded coldboot issue in earliear bios revisions).
