Take cover off hdd, let it spin up, get mates to stand around it in a circle and tell them to throw nails, screws etc at it whilst it still spinning.

I melted one down once, in a BBQ assisted by a large blowtorch.

Another I drilled a few holes in and dropped it off the side of a car ferry on my way to the Isle of Man.

I admit both methods might be considered overkill.
