Distinct drop in corsair quality

Got my 540 today and everything is ok.
Binned stock fans right away ofc, replaced with Akasa Apache's and can't hear a thing :D

Mine turned up ok to, quality seems fine though the 2.5" bays in the PSU section seem a bit fragile and could easily break - everything else seems to be of solid build quality though the fans are likely going to be changed also.

Got a massive static shock off the black felt cover when unpacking it through and the window on the side panel felt "statically charged" for quite awhile, the air is quite dry in here but still I'd reccomend unpacking it away from other components and leaving it awhile before doing the build if this is generally the case.

It seems like some of you guys have had some unfortunately experience with some of our products. On behalf of Corsair, I'd like to apologize if you've had some bad vibes in the past with one or two Corsair product.

While we do our best to ensure virtually everyone that owns/will own a Corsair hardware to have a headache-free experience, I think it’s reasonable to say that a small amount of units will still somehow slip through our rigorous QC process, in which will potentially cause the least desirable experience. Most companies do accept this reality within the industry, and this is why all of our hardware comes with a great warranty and backed up with an amazing after sales support team to ensure that you guys are being attended, and eventually turn around a bad experience to a great one. Anyway, just wanted to put it out there. Just in case you guys need immediate assistance, I'm always here - just ping me and I'll make sure we do our best to alleviate any problem you may have.

In reiyushin’s situation, looks like you’re having some issue with the front panel of the 750D. Is it the panel itself that is not catching the tab or the frame that is holding the panel? Let me know which part and I’ll make sure that we send out a replacement for you. You’ve also added that your M65 is acting .Is this correct? You already have a ticket right? Let me know what it is, and I can help you out to process any replacement or RMA that needs to be arranged.

Corsair is definitely using its reputation to cover up the fact that they are cutting costs and hoping nobody notices.

I think the most obvious example is the quality of the PSU's. Less and less use Seasonic as the OEM now, some new re-releases of old PSU's (V2's, i's etc) are actually worse in terms of internal quality than before.

That said OP, you have been horribly unlucky as while the quality might not be as tip-top as it was, it is still very good in most of their products.

I would just like to make it clear that I don't have anything against Corsair as such, my system has black Corsair Vengeance RAM, Blue Corsair Vengeance RAM, a Corsair H100, Corsair fans and it is in a Corsair case. :)

My overall impressions has been positive however looking around I see the static charge issue when unpacking the 540 air isn't a completely unknown one - from user comments else where for instance:

"Also every time you remove the case with the Styrofoam generates an enormous static charge. I had several painful shocks taking the case out of the box."

The combination of styrofoam + protective felt + plastic side window protector + acrylic window seems to be a bit of a nasty combination for generating static charges on unpacking - might be worth getting a warning label slapped on there. (I'd rather have that protection there as it means the case comes out looking pristine).

Thanks Greybeard I've responded to your email :)

Rroff I had the same thing when removing the window plastic it created massive static!

I can't really complain about the quality of my 900D. Aside from only being able to screw in one thumb screw into my double slot GPU, everything else seems to be fine... there are a few annoying design issues though. Still, it was worth the money.

Oh, I almost forgot. The HDD "sleds" are pretty poor. There's no satisfying click as they lock into place... mainly because they don't really lock into place. The little doors on the sleds never quite line up and overall, they just feel cheap compared to the rest of the case. The materials are fine, I just think it's a design issue IMHO.

i brought the corsair obsidian 350d windowed version as i wanted to move away from m-itx
it arrived (not from ocuk) and it looked great, built the PC then stuck the side window panel on, took the protective film off and bam!! loads of scratches all over the window

suppose i could have reported that and got a replacement, but i am really funny about initial quality of products (was a Quality Controller for 9 1/2 years) so its first strike and your out
so sent it back and got a refund... now currently looking for a m-atx case with a window... sorry refuse to buy the 350d again now

I've built in four Corsair cases (600T, 500R, 300R and 200R), and they replaced the front panel on the 600T for free when I accidentally broke the headphone socket so spot on customer service, and trouble free cases all round.

Would always look at Corsair cases in the future should I need a new one, with complete confidence I would be getting a decent item.
