DIY bods in here - redundant light switch

I'v never heard that terminology.

I'm a DIYer, my dads a qualified sparks, I worked in B&Q with a qualified sparks and for all I can remember everyone has always called them chock blocks, because you know... they look like blocks of chocolate ;)

I'm quite surprised you've never heard that. Maybe its a regional thing... or something.

I presume then you're also a DIYer?

This is quite an interesting thread, my parents house has a lightswitch that does nothing :D I always wondered what it might control... never looked into it though. Might head into their loft and try to find out :D

Well like most electrical things they are reted to take different volumes of Volts currents amps and all the rest of it, you get different sizes depending on it all. Wouldnt want to buy one of the smallest ones and find out it is still live and goes drasticly wrong.

But as i must say im not a qualified sparkie i only have basic knowlege of it, i cant be held responsible for it, I would go to the likes of William wilsns or a trade electrical centre where you are more than likely going to get a correct rated recomendation that from the likes of homebase, i used to work for homebase and know what kind of ***** work there.

Only website i can find that shows different rated Amps for them is in a term of rival to OC so cant post it, however you get from 3A - 30A

However found this question on their website, Hope it helps

Q) Is this the same thing as connector blocks? And to connect lighting do I use 5amps or higher? - Sam
A) Yes the same as connector blocks, ampage required depends on your lighting circuit.
