DIY Nokia Firmware Updates

Doing this has killed my N70, it wont turn on now, what can I do?

You may need to take it to a Nokia Service centre for them to reload the firmware or send it away to Nokia or I'd contact Vodafone (or whichever network you're on) and tell them the phone died and you want it replaced :D

I just upgraded my N70 and it's made no difference to the speed, but it already had the version 5 firmware on before this upgrade.

I'll take it back to The Link next Sunday, should I tell them what i've done? Or just say that it won't turn on nor show signs of life?

I had a bad experience with Phones4u when pushing for a repair on my 6230i keypad, they blamed it on water damage  And refused to do anything because the phone wasn't insured, The Link aren't like this are they?

Should I experience this again, what can I do?

PS my N70 isn't insured.

dont have any experience of the link's after sales service

but i found phones 4 terrible when i used them, so im not supprised you found the same.

i updated my N70 btw

What firmware did you have and what is it now mate?

Took my N70 in to The Link today, I told them a software update killed it, the member of staff dealing with me put down on the diagnosis 'Power problems'

If a handset receives a bad software update and wont turn on afterwards, is it repairable?

Bloomin well hope so cos I've just handed my 6680 to CPW for repair after a firmware upgrade went bad! Wasnt using Nokia's official prog tho.

Thankfully the phone has 5 more days of warranty left on it :D
The firmware update didnt start properly, but left the phone in a state that it only turns on to light up completely white and thats it! Will get it back in 5 days. Hope its still unlocked, cos I paid three to unlock it a few weeks ago!

Got my phone back from whoever repaired if that's to do with The Link, the 1st problem was death of an N70 after a DIY update went wrong. Now to make things worse, when I pull the slider down for the camera, it works for a second or two, then I move the phone with my hand and it repeatedly turns the camera on and off.

What is the problem with this handset now?

:(

This means another 3 weeks of no phone, where does this put me legally? Am I able to demand a new handset or does it have to keep going for repairs?

Can I ask what your N80 is?
was it branded/locked to a network?
I have one, that I was given by a friend who hated it. He was on O2, I am on Orange and the handset works fine.
I ried the updater a few days ago, and it said no software updates available! Even though I am on
