Dizzee Rascal on Obama

Ethnic minorities (and specifically black people) have historically voted strongly in favour of the democratic candidate.

It's usually 80-90%, Obama just pushed it a little higher to 95%.

what! That rapping (careful! Not what lorry drivers do!) makes people go out and vote!???

ROFLARAMA!

That's not what he's saying at all. His point was that a lot of hip hop acts have campaigned in support for Obama and in support of voting in general. They've used their music and media coverage to get people to vote.

Was that aimed at me or just a generic reply to a select few in the thread?

It was aimed at you, I simply didn't understand

"Have you got any spare change because Im a dumb ass and I can't survive without help from other people."

What does misunderstanding a post have to do with spare change and help from other people. You are being very over the top.

I admit that I used the word stupid, but it was backed up by a valid point, you are just making stupid comments with no reasoning.

Please explain.

Not really,

All this proves (If we lower this discussion purely to race as you have done) is that black people vote for black people and white people vote for the candidate they think will run the country well.
Oh god, this retarded train of thought has drifted into this thread as well. Oh dear.

EDIT - Sorry, I had a bit of faffy knee jerk myself there.

It was implications of what you were posting that was upsetting me, but I realise you hadn't hinted that way in the post. Sorry.

Well you called me stupid, so i'd thought i'd back you up to prove that you are correct and that I am stupid, so i made a stupid post.

Welcome to GD! Along with it comes crap posts like the one i made.

I see this as a bit disturbing actually. Ok, for now ill give them the benefit of the doubt that the African-Americans didnt have the motivation to participate in bigger numbers as they never had the chance to vote for someone, even remotely related to them. But if the major part of this black segment from the population disappears during the future elections, in cases when there are two white candidates, then the whole democracy talk ends up a bit rubbish.

The same old nazi boys in this thread doing what they do best...get a life!!

Nazi's where?

I don't think those of us that are referring to the interview as embarrassing has anything to do with "Mr Rascal's" colour. What has, is the very fact that he was asked his opinion on Obama purely because of the colour of his skin. A black wo/man's opinion on Obama's success has no more foundation, clout or authority than that of a white man on George Bush. The interview was disingenuous and made to make the BBC feel as if they were in touch with today's “yoof” and it made “Mr Rascal” look awkward and inept. My point is that there are lots of other eloquently gifted Black men and Women that could have given there opinion without resorting to Dizzy. Maybe they should get Jade Goody in to see what she thinks of McCain losing!

There is no denying that Barrack Obama becoming President is a huge step forward for Black Americans, but more than that, Lets hope its a step forward for America as a nation. Its time to move on as a people and realise that the only thing that matters is what he delivers as a leader. His colour is completely irrelevant. I feel a sense of great optimism from the people of America and hope this nation returns to its former greatness and those of all races prosper in the future.

To true about the colour thing matey...I couldn't care less.

I don't live there anyway, long as he does his job (whatever people think that may be in terms of what he 'should' be doing) then it doesn't matter.

The president could be green for all I care :p

More white? Why?

Saying that is racist in it's self...hang on I can't say that :X

Except there isn't really any racism in this thread, and I never claimed there was.

Just an awful lot of terrible stereotyping, which I was responding to in kind. Do keep up.

EDIT: Well actually, I guess "all black people only vote within their race" is vaguely racist, but it's more just uninformed and plain wrong in this case.

Indeed, I haven't said against that I don't think. (Yes I'm aware you aren't pointing the quote at me.

I think people are more bothered by the fact they chose him, as there could have been 'better' people. God knows.

Again, couldn't care less.

I just hate the blatant publicity all of a sudden, and double standards, even though that is probably the wrong word to use, I can't think of the correct term as I'm carp.
