DLSS 5 preview

DLSS 5 .DLL files have been found hiding in NBA 2k27's game files of all places!

The DLSS 5 files are 3x larger than DLSS 4.5 files.

Users haven't found a way to turn DLSS 5 on though

And already used for testing:

No HDR working (maybe bug), unusable on 5070Ti (over 50% performance hit) apparently, few other issues. Seems it's 5090 toy and frankly not too bad looking but also nothing that Devs couldn't just do in games as standard (as in better looking characters) if they really wanted, with much much better performance. It looks to me like just another tool to make developers even more lazy and offload their effort to the hardware of the end user. Still, with such hardware requirements it will not be a popular solution I suspect.

Yep didnt take long for hackers to hack dlss5 into control

It's also funny that enabling Dlss 5 cuts performance by a whopping 50%! No wonder NVIDIA had to run it on two RTX 5090's when they did the demo

Tho where this tech would look great is x4 foundations as the devs cant do characters very well and this would make the ppl in that game look miles better long as their harsh lighting in the game didnt ruin it. But is it worth a few grand just for that, nah, but in 10 years it probs cheap to pull off with any old gpu then hopefully.

Until a gpu can drive me somewhere, I’m not really bothered about comparing it to a (likely terrible) car.
You can do these nonsense comparisons with anything.

The advantage would be that you'd get cinematic quality (or above) for in-game characters, a thing that games don't do at all for whatever reason. So, if you have the spare performance, it could work. More on that, if you can mod it in any game, that 50% is about there or less to what you'll lose with RT/PT, depending on title. Raster + this = doable. Unless... nVIDIA limits it to 5xxx or 6xxx series.

Weird

£8400 of graphics cards as used to demonstrate is whatever you feel comfortable calling it.

I'll say the point again, it's a selling point for remote gaming, provided by the same company.

Not to me it isn't, I don't rent things (Except Steam games technically).

Just tried the DLSS5 Control mod, Holy crap, This is going to open up whole new avenues for realism in gaming, Very impressive.

Holy ****. Didn't think we would get to test this yet, new ray reconstruction and DLSS 5 leak in the same week is bonkers.

Aside from the fact Jesse is a suspicious looking bird anyway - who now looks like up-tempo popstar Will Young - you can't deny this is very very impressive.

I hate AI with a passion but I'm a total hypocrite when it comes to graphics tech so I'm all in on testing this, sorry haters.
