Do I need 200mbs?

Those Linux isos are about 90% of the UK usage :D

That made me chuckle.

The ISP's are just as implicit in "copyright theft" than end users.

If all "piracy" was suddenly impossible, would we stick with our 100Mbs+ connections?

Sure, some just like it "because they can" but they then also use their Notebook on wifi in the loft conversion while the router is locked away in a cupboard under the stairs pulling 30Mbps if lucky.

Yes I'd stick with it! Got about 6 users of the WiFi here with multiple devices and people streaming YouTube, Netflix or Amazon Video, iPlayer. Couldn't do without it (the upload anyway).

Games are now 50GB and above, of course a faster connection speed is desirable. There's all sorts of bandwidth intensive cloud sharing apps such as OneDrive, Flikr upload, YouTube uploads, Apple Photos, Google photos etc etc. I'm happy with my 47 mb until I need to actually use it, then it seems the slowest connection ever.

I think ISPs should allow a boost in connection speed, so your daily is like 40 and then you could boost to say 100 a few times a month.

You would be surprised how much the "average" consumer really does not even know what speed they are paying for, nevermind receiving.

Not part of a contract, though, surely?

Nahh I was having a dig at them and the traffic management/congestion issues (pay for 100, get less but occassionally get your max speed). Obviously as has been mentioned it's a lottery so best talk to people in the area with their service.

So yeah, cant tell the difference as most have said in the scenario I described in the OP, Mrs streaming shows and me gaming and the connections behaves the same on 100 as it did on 200

Downloading and uploading isn't too much of a big deal for me as I not impatient I'll happily leave a game downloading and go and do other things whilst that's happening so effectively £20 better off for the same experience, happy days and thanks for the advice
