Ok, so here it goes. There are LAN cable going directly to my pc w/o modem, now there are couple of notebooks in the house, so i need router, so here's the question, do i need to plug in my LAN cable in to the modem, then in to router, or i can directly connect in to the router, and then to my pc, and wireless to my notebooks? If i don't need modem, can u offer me wireless router for about 60-70 pounds?

Not sure I understand what your trying to say.
Cable (Virgin):
If you need access to the internet then you will need to have a cable modem connected to the router. You then connect the PC to the router ports or via WiFi.
ADSL (Phone Line):
Most ADSL routers usually have a modem built into them. The router will connect directly to the phone line. Your PC connects to the ports or via WiFi.
If you dont need internet access, then any WiFi router will be fine.

First question, are you on cable or adsl? (virgin media tends to be cable..)

If you have ADSL, buy a router with a built in adsl modem.

just seen the split - is your pc wire on the right, and then the cable is split on the left?

it could be anything. There's a lot fo wires there - is this a shared accomodation? (flats or something? ) So where do the orange go?
Where does the other end of that wire go? Why is there multiple runs of coax with splitters? Is there a 'communal' switch? it's impossible to figure out what you needs when we don't know what you have.
