Do I really need a new DMF?

And the exact car. Vibration can be when the spring on the DMF goes, or it can be a lot of other things as well. Need to find the route cause first.

It certainly could be - weren't you advised to replace the DMF when the clutch was replaced?

No idea, car is only a couple of months old, and the clutch wasn't replaced under my mother's ownership

No. It's a 2009 car. The car has only been in his mother's ownership for a couple of months. The clutch was replaced over 10k ago.

Yes I understand VW do not make the flywheels, however the part numbers off the original flywheel match nothing, I spoke yo LUK direct and they said they offer no aftermarket replacement. It is 100% a genuine only part, which is annoying as you can get all the other flywheels etc inc the DSG one..

Get in touch with ELK Performance, chap runs a lot of very high power Volvos and has set up a little shop, gets gen Volvo parts directly from Sweden and he's significantly less than Volvo dealers, so always worth getting in touch with him.

Make sure if you take it somewhere outside of Volvo to get fitted that they have the correct tool, it's not like replacing a clutch on any other car, there is a special Volvo tool/press used on the DMF and if this isn't used when installing it you'll be back within a week with issues.
