Do I wait for The new Ryzen CPUs

For the first time in 4 years I'm now looking to upgrade (i7 3770k @4.5) as my CPU usage in some games are now reaching 100% causing stuttering, and this is only at 1080p!

Waiting until it's release is probably the best bet as you may even see some minor price reductions from intel and amd's current line up. I guess for me it doesn't really matter what side I choose, it will be an upgrade regardless.

Just buy a bigger monitor. :D

When there are price drops like those on the Ryzen 1 series, I think it can be useful to get a range of opinions and possibly some new information.

In any case, waiting for the new CPUs to drop will most likely cause existing CPUs to fall in price. If not, Ryzen 1 chips will still exist to purchase, same with Intel.

Sorry for not replying to any of the responses just been quietly reading everyone's thoughts. Seems the most obvious thing to do is wait. Thanks for all the input

I got a Ryzen 1600x for £149 elsewhere, I came to the conclusion that this was my budget regardless, so 2600 was never gonna be on the cards at that price.

I was tempted at buying one i might wait to see what the final prices are though on the new ones. Would i see much of a performance boots ( not just gaming) from my i5 6500 if i did go with a 1600/x ?

I'm still a little undecided what to pick up. I am basically only gaming. But like the upgrade path for the Ryzen. Choosing between a 8700k & 2700k. Next BF game will be the main game for couple of years.

Is there a chance that Intel will react with price cuts to ryzen launch? What happened last time?

You should definitely wait.

I've just done exactly the same. I don't need it but I doubt the X470 or even X570 boards will add anything that I will really want and the discount on both the 1600x and the board (Asrock Killer SLI) compared to launch prices was too much to ignore.

Edit to add - I also suspect that were I to decide to get a 2700 in a few months I won't loss that much on the 1600x...

I think 1600x will last you until Ryzen 3 unless you want to buy faster ram.

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X and ASUS ROG STRIX X470-I GAMING ITX has been ordered :) I have vacation next week and if the Strix X470 isn't in stock by friday so I can start building, then I'll use the Asrock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac I have laying on my table and cancel the X470.
