So I'm planning on going to a Nando's with some mates soon, I've never been to one before and can't tell whether they serve any alcohol other than fermented crap like beer and wine. Anyone know? If not, it's going to be hipflask time.

Nope, just beers, cider, and wines.

True. How incompetent is it that some businesses don't serve spirits? For the sake of buying a litre bottle of vodka for next to nothing they only serve beer/wine which results in customers not buying any drinks at all.

I don't get this thread, but then I'm not an alcoholic.

Can someone explain the fascination with drinking neat spirits whilst eating some chicken lol?

If you're an alcoholic and you need to be drunk in Nandos just down a bottle before you go in. I refuse to believe you cant be without booze for just 30 minutes of Nando's lol.

Also what will your mates think of you? If I went out to grab some food with mates and one of them started chugging from a hip flask I'd wonder what on earth is wrong with the guy and his life.

The beauty of human diversity. Some people think too hard.

As odd as it feels saying this: asim does have a point.

I mean it's Nando's! It is barely a step up from McDonalds - not really something that people tend to plan far in advance thus the expression 'cheeky Nando's'. I've generally been to one in the past on say a Friday lunchtime or maybe as a quick meal with colleagues when working late and it's always been on a whim.

I'm not sure that spending 20-30mins in the place necessitates bringing a hip flask any more than say a trip to pizza express, GBK or itsu. They're quick, cheap food options - you can easily go to a bar before or after.

Yup...oddly with asim on this one too. Sounds like someone has a problem that they need to address if they can't go for a meal without needing some pretty heavy duty booze.

Agreed. I can't think of any Nandos which doesn't have a watering hole within 500m.

I don't like jumping to conclusions but this does have a bit of a whiff of alcoholism about it.

I'd wager it's a commercial or strategic decision rather than incompetence.

If you really need to take a hip flask with you to a Nandos, seek help.

On the sliding scale of fast food it's one small notch above McD's and the only people I see drunk in there are hobos.
