You learn something new everyday! I thought they would need one as the higher boost would try and seek out all weak spots and a join is as weak as the system will get, would force some of the charge through it.
There is no boost/charge on the exhaust side, the boost is generated on the cold side of the turbo.

In what way is it not true? The exhaust turbine drives the compressor, which in turn produces the boost
How is there 'boost' on the turbine side?
