DO NOT BUY A COSWORTH!

There is quite a large amount of pressure pre turbine as it's a massive restriction.

But it's not 'boost' in the sense of it being a compressed charge like the compressor output, which is what I was refering to.

Semantics I know but I'm a piccky ****** like that. :p

Oh I see, you were being a pedant.

'Boost' is nothing more than an indication of a restriction in flow. The turbine restricts exhaust flow and shows 'boost'.

Edit: bugger. Beaten like a ginger stepchild.

This place can be amazingly anal at times, it's pretty obvious that when people refer to 'boost' in a turbo application, they are talking about what's being force fed into the intake. OK, the exhaust side may technically see 'boost', but I really don't think that's what Brendy was refering to when he mentioned boost and charge, it looked to me like he was talking about intake charge, and I was merely pointing out that there there is none on the exhaust side.

In an amusing comedy turn the car excelled itself last night.

Took the shed out for a blast last night following a bad day at work.

Was cruising home at about 40 in 5th cooling the engine down on a pitch black country road. Everything cut out with no warning. I had no lights, no power, nothing. I couldn't even put my hazards on!!

Had to call the old man for a tow home and stand down the road to slow down traffic.

I'm so fed up with this its untrue. It was a dream to finally get one but its quickly turning into a nightmare and bankrupting me in the process. I actually hoped someone would nick it last night!

Its been suggested it could be all manner of melted wiring or blown fuses, and probably won't cost a lot to fix, but it also needs a new clutch cable as that's stretched due to the heavy clutch and a new heatshield. Its just never ending, and I'm seriously thinking about fixing it and selling it.

Anyone wanna swap for an Evo?

Not related to the type of car but the same thing happened to me, pitch black country road, and everything just goes whilst I was doing around 50mph.

I also lost everything, not even my hazards! I'm glad it was a long straight road as if it had been round a bend it could've been bad news.

Called up my Dad and as I was just finishing on the phone, everything came back on all of a sudden, I went home nice and steadily.

Turned out just to be a loose battery connection, it seems to work its way loose every 6 months or so. But it was still very scary!

Lets hope whatever it is it's the last thing you'll need to fix for a long time.

I don't think you should sell it yet, all you'd have done is spend money for someone else to enjoy it. Fix it, keep it for a while, enjoy it, then sell it.

Think you're pretty unlucky mate.

We had a very tuned Cossie and did a few thousand miles on it with no problems at all. a lot of it is how you and the previous owners care for the car. Great fun cars

Get rid. Unless you're a die-hard cossie nut who can live with the problems, it's not worth it.

How much would you get for it?

I am, or at least was, a die hard, blinkered cossie nut! I had heard they could be a PITA, but this run of bad luck is something else!!

Once fixed I would not let go for less than £12k. Despite all these niggly problems (blowing engine was pretty much my own fault for maxing it repeatedly), it is an extremely good example.

I hate it when it goes wrong, and love it when its working well. It hates me all the time!! :p

I'm going to have a look now at what it might be with a few pointers. Lets hope it fairly cheap!!:eek::eek:
