Do some Intel Core 2 Duo's run hotter than others?

Do some Intel Core 2 Duo's run hotter than others? The reason i ask is that my mate is about to get a Core 2 Duo and my E2180 is a bit hot according to him. He said they are known for this? If that is right, what Core 2 Duo's run cooler at stock speeds and he has to then decide which one to get!!

depends on factors such as case cooling, thermal paste applied correctly concave cpu etc. etc.

Yes, especially the E21xx series but its not a showstopper by any means.

Is he overclocking?

I would imagine the G0 series may run a bit cooler, is he buying a cheap CPU or can he afford something over £100?

I think £100 is his maximum to be honest. He doesn't overcklock but he may do once i point him to this website!!

At 126 its overpriced.

30 more gets you a quad.But we have been on this road before.

That cpu just aint worth that moneyimo when there is a G0 cool running quad for so little more

No, i have talked about the quads with him and he doesn't want to get one yet. He has no use for 4 cores and wants to wait until 2009 to get a quad!
