Yes otherwise we get lazy Nvidia. No one wants lazy Nvidia.
The 4060Ti is bad enough.
Look back at the 8800 GTX, amazing card but there was no real competition, so they released it again as the 9800 GTX with a die shrink, then again as the GTS 250…
The 4080 is probably Nvidia's worse selling card this gen and I think they'll adjust pricing on it next time around, if they want to keep the $1200 price tag then it needs to be on the 102 silicon.Nah
People paid the premium this time around.
Nvidia will up the price and say you're getting AI and everyone bitch complain while opening their wallets curse them for ruining the industry while they enter their card deals. Then blame AMD for not having their cards out to make Nvidia lower their price.
I dont think the flagship cards are about what people need, if i needed £1700 cards to be happy gaming then i would instantly quit and get another past time
£1700 every 2 years or so isn't a huge amount for some to keep a hobby going, granted that's on top of other components you need to buy to stay at the cutting edge.
The problem is what it does to the tiers below, as everything gets pulled up if they follow the 4-series model. I didn't have much of a problem with the previous Halo products for those who needed to have the very best, as the difference in performance going to the model below wasn't gigantic and the cost of doing so was much lower.
Don't forget said card will also have a resale value, poss a third of the purchase price. If nvidia are moving to a 3 year cycle now AMD has dropped out of the high end gfx market, then £1700 for a flagship card isn't unreasonable for a hobby (works out at £567 per year). Much cheaper than going to the pub or going to football etc (although I personally would wince at paying so much just for 1 piece of computer equipment).

Everywhere I see people frantically talking about the 50 series.
Because there are no good 4000 series options apart from the 4090 and only a minuscule segment of the market will drop £1500 on a card.
And unless Nvidia are feeling charitable the 5000 series won't be any cheaper.
Yeah, I’ve said as much above. That’s the concern that this is just the way it will be going forward.

5000 series talk is mostly people desperate for some value for money options again like the 3060ti and 3080 from the previous gen.
