Do you always go with the cheapest insurance quote?

Cheapest.
The chances are I'll never need them so it's just a piece of paper.
Multicar shines a different light on it though and more difficult.
I went with Admiral last year but insurance went up £300 with an extra years no claims?
This year Aviva as you get a 20% discount if you have another product with them - so i opened a pension with them.
I save money and i get a pension which I'll get back anyway.

I normally go with the cheapest one which has courtesy car, windscreen cover and a recognisable name, not 'Insurance King' or some other fly-by-nights.

Saying that, I made the mistake of going with QuoteMeHappy this year. They offered what I mentioned above and are part of Aviva, so I thought they'd be ok. Nope. I had a bump in a car park earlier this year which went 50/50 as we were both reversing out of opposite spaces. I had to wait a week for the damage to be repaired while they authorised the quote with the garage, and have had no communication from them at all about the claim - not even a confirmation email. I spent 40 minutes on hold with them yesterday trying to get some information before eventually giving up. I'm never using them again.

Admitedly I was with QuoteMeHappy for 3 years, and as others have mentioned, it was fine with competitive prices (22 year old with a Suzuki Alto) because I never had to contact them.

New shiny car and now with Direct Line (£600 on 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport, now 27 and based in Oxford!)

I do shop around but then I like a good deal :D

My renewal was £6 more expensive than the cheapest quote I got so I just accepted the renewal cost, saved me time filling out more details.

Thing is, I always ask them to knock the price down a bit and 99% of the time they do. I got mine down to the same as I paid last year, despite the tax hikes.

Whereabouts are you out of interest? Only a few Oxford folk on here to my knowledge. :)

For my boring standard uninteresting Civic Type-S, I go for the cheapest reputable brand that is actually a sole insurance company, rather than a bank or a supermarket.

When I had more interesting cars I used the specialist brokers such as Greenlight etc, especially when it came to mods on the MX5.

Anyone else seeing price increases this year? My renewal is due in a month so ran quick comparison quote and the lowest is £100 more than the previous year and nothing has changed except a 7th year NCD added, including the company I'm currently with. Hoping prices are more representative nearer the time.

Very close to the mini factory, not far from the fire station! Didcot bound come September which is the time for my renewal, so could be interesting in that regard!

EDIT: If you see a grey 208 GTi, it's pretty much me :D

I neglected to tell them about my 3pts and a previous insurance claim I had two years ago, saved a £100.

I have a feeling that rank dishonesty might return to bite me on the arse..

I got an SP50 last year, it was close to my renewal so i waited for that, when it arrived, i phoned and told them about my SP50, it didn't change my renewal price.

I'm actually out of town over towards Witney in a small village but i drive through Oxford a lot. Likewise if you see a Black E350 Convertible or a Silver SL55 being driven like an idiot then thats probably me :p
