Do you believe in fate?

Maybe it wasn't, maybe fate is actually a construct devised entirely by the human mind and it's tendancy to want explanations for events in their lives?

I don't need explanations. Maybe you are a construct designed by the Gods to test my faith? Works both ways! :)

My life isn't important enough in the grand scheme of things to need grandiose explanations.

To quote from Predator 2 - **** happens.

Maybe, either way it bears no actual relevance to my life because I could still exist without any knowledge of those concepts. Oh and isn't saying we have fate and free will a sort of contradiction?

Free will is the option for us to make our own choices in life, fate means that the choice we make is the choice we made. The fact that you have already made that choice in the future in no way takes away from the fact that the decision was completely yours and that nobody else decided the choice except you.

I find when bad things happen in time to come which may be years you realise that it was for a good reason and worked out to help you in the future ,if you not what I mean :D

So yes I believe in fate ,I think most teens don't but as you learn and progress in life then you do !

I beleive that some things happen for a reason, apart from there cause, but I don't beleive in fate.

You have some pretty inconsistent beliefs yantorsen.

I don't think so.

You have distorted my views there, I was saying It doesn't need to, to another thingk you said in the same post.

and I never said I don't beleive that some things happen for a reason, but I don't beleive they happen because of fate.

So you believe that things do happen for a reason, but you don't believe in fate? Right...

What exactly is it you believe in yantorsen? Whenever you get pushed up against a wall, you instantly shout "It's my belief!"

I never quoted you out of context, anyone is able to read through the thread and come to any conclusion you like. I am however, going to stick to my guns and assume you're logically inconsistent.

fine you do that, I didn't "instantly shout it's my beleif", and I don't feel im "being pushed against a wall".

just because something happens for a reason doesn't make it fate. If i play football, and shoot, I do it because I want to score, that is the reason, I was never destined to shoot.

I was never destined to shoot.

Or maybe you were, so that it enabled the scoring of a fantastic goal, headline (of the local sports rag) worthy. There is a girl watching. It turns her on and she wants you. She drags you away and you make sweet passionate love against the wall of the changing rooms, while a group of 14 year olds watch from the bushes several yards away, you don't care though, it's good. You see this woman again, fall in love and have a child. You nurture this boy through his childhood and he studies hard, getting himself a great scientific degree. Years later, when you're an old man, maybe even dead, he discovers a cure for cancer and is hailed as a hero, saving the lives of millions.

It seems obvious to me fate was the reason you took that shot, nothing else.

why? I don't think that would be fate at all, or atleast that example doesn't show that would be fate anymore than anything else.

I get in the newspaper because the goal was so good because of the various force/spin etc I put on the ball. The girls you describe would then like the goal scorer because he's popular/famous/rich/fit etc... then have sex and do everything you say, and then your son goes on to do whatever because of the various things which would happen in his life.

it's not fate though...
