Used to buy Disks only but as times have changed towards Digital and Subscription… I have always bought Digital CD Keys (Where ever cheapest) and currently use Xbox Ultimate Game Pass.

Disks were great when they ran the game back in the day as my internet speeds were really slow, but being on Virgin Media that’s not an issue these days and due to size of games even with disks you end up needing a huge update anyway.

On the switch I bought a bunch of games in digital initially then regretted it as a) I didn't play them much b) some weren't that good. Convenience was great, but now I tend to buy the carts and sell them if I don't like them/finish them.
PC 100% digital, 90% Steam, 10% BattleNet

Bit of both tbh. Some great deals to be had in the last year if you are happy to have the physical over digital download.

My series S means I have to go digital with that but PS4 has been a great year for physical bargain games :)

I prefer to buy physical copies for the most, but have a few digital too. Main reason being that physical console games are generally cheaper.

And they drop in price quicker. Sometimes by 50% within 2 months, without going down the 2nd hand route.

How much does that translate in money?

Over £600, not including games which has gone up in value.

I purchased a few over Christmas, one cost me £95. More than the digital version which is £65 from the eShop but its limited print or will be.

Xbox wise i'm all digital but for the Switch and PS4/5 i'm mostly physical, the Switch even more so, I don't know why but I just prefer having a physical switch cart if I have the choice

i tend to buy the disc a few months after release once the price has dropped a little - that way I can trade it in and get something for it when I am finished with it or don't like it1

Never wanted to go digital as I have always liked collecting physical media. But alas, Steam has taken over my gaming needs where everything is digital. Problem is that most games these days are not finished and need day one patches etc. Pretty much all physical media games where perfect out of the box. I have no optical drives whatsoever anymore.

I love game pass but I have such a back log of games get rotated so I often see something I’d want to play but by the time I go to play it it’s rotated out again. I have started collecting ps3 and Wii U games so my physical collection is growing. Still buy ps5 games on disk but admit for remotely digital is handy as no disk swapping needed.
