Do you flash, or expect to be flashed in warning of mobile speed cameras?

You have no understanding of how the police actually work though, whereas I do.

ORLY, that's great and I am happy for you lmao :D, but are you actually discussing anything here? All you're doing is exclaiming something about yourself that is completely and utterly pointless.

Are you refuting something I said using reasoning and logic? I have no idea.

In the post you quoted I made 4 very simple points:

- They're not a non-profit organisation.
- Everything is done for money these days.
- There is absolutely no evidence to suggest police officers are saints who go around catching - speeders in exchange for absolutely nothing.
- It's a job, it's done for moneymaking purposes.

Maybe start by saying which one(s) you disagree with, and then highlight your reasoning behind it, this is how you use a discussion forum. Not "You have no understanding of how the police actually work though, whereas I do." using a silly line like that, you just come across as very silly/childish.

There's no point asim, we've done this dance in previous threads. You don't know anything about the topic but you barge in anyway like you do.

So you admit you're just trolling and you have absolutely no retorts to my specific points whatsoever, other than to blanket exclaim how clever you think you are compared to others?

Amazing.

So someone makes 4 very basic points. And then "TheVoice" comes along with absolutely no logical retorts, but sees it as an opportunity to exclaim that "he knows how the police work".

Oh wow. Yes, TheVoice, you know so much about the police, congratulations.

That's it, shut this topic down, there's nothing to see or discuss here anymore because "TheVoice" has exclaimed that he knows about the police.

:D This is just absolute hilarity.

Edit: I have literally been laughing my arse off for the past 5 minutes, I just can't stop laughing. So thanks TheVoice, not only do you "know about the police" you also know about comedy.

I think most people would be surprised at how little time the average police officer spends dealing with speeding, the prevailing opinion seems to be that all police do is spend time dishing out tickets like confetti (because its easier than real police work, according to asim18's extensive policing experience ;)).

The reality though is that the numbers of 'roads policing' officers, the ones who actually are monitored on how many tickets/traffic process reports they issue, is tiny, and the officers who are not on a dedicated traffic unit will almost certainly not have the equipment to issue speeding 'tickets' anyway (no speed gun/calibrated in car devices etc).

Stops for no insurance, mobile phone and other traffic offences are very common (West Midlands Police currently averaging ~1000 vehicles a month seized for no insurance) but speeding is way down the list. Public perception on speed enforcement is quite far removed from the reality - in your large urban areas the average response officers will just spend all shift being sent from job to job to job over the radio, they simply won't have time to start pulling cars over all the time. I know officers who've been in the job years and would tell you that they've never issued a ticket for speeding, but have dealt with plenty of other motoring and criminal offences. Camera enforcement has taken over almost completely in many parts of the country, for good or bad.

exactly, the cameras are catching the speeders nowadays and you cant fight it in court either.........because you're far more likely to get away with a speeding offence if a copper stops you, he is more likely to say, ``you were over the speed limit by roughly 4mph, just slow down ok``.......... this has happened to me a few times.

they can tell the moment they see your face if you're worth prosecuting, plus they usually check your car reg before pulling you over anyway; esp if they've followed you for over a mile or so  you can always tell when they're going to pull you over, you can sense their eyes drilling into the back of your skull  :D

drivers in the U.K are pretty safe, even the so called speeders, because if you want to see really dangerous driving just go to Palermo in Sicily.

You are legit insane :/

Even if you warn someone and they see you, how do they even prove you were warning them about the camera? I've never heard of anyone actually getting done for it. People flash each other for all kinds of reasons.

I've no longer flash anybody, used to many, many years ago when speed cameras weren't that popular and you'd get a confused look back so I guessed I was not actually helping so stopped.

"Ah, but [insert name of newspaper] isn't exactly a credible information source, now, is it?"..... is the standard response, I believe?

If you are seen doing so its a £200 fine and 6 points.

This is the thing, I drive ~230 miles a day and can literally count the number of cops on the beat I see on one hand. All these rules and regulations they keep bringing in to attempt at curbing the motoring offences are utterly pointless when there's no one around to enforce the. It's the same with mobile phone use people continue to do it day in, day out because they think the chances of being caught are so incredibly slim.

It's one of them things, I've never seen anyone flash for a mobile camera/guy with a speedgun, so I wouldn't for other people.

I guess it might be an age thing, back when static camera's were not really a thing and the only way to catch people would be to sit in the car or something.

Possibly true, I used to flash, and get flashed by other truckers if a cop car was "hanging it up" anywhere when I was trucking years ago.
I rarely see it occur now, and I never do it myself as I'm usually in the back, or reading the paper in the passenger seat while my wife is driving.
I get no kicks from driving, after a lifetime of earning a living with a steering wheel in my hands, I have little or no interest in driving anything, although my wife sometimes holds a gun to my head if we're in Europe with her car.
She gets a bit hinky about overtaking when she has to lean over to the left to try to see round the vehicle she wants to overtake.
