Do you get rid of your box?

I like to tidy up, so yes. And for the most part, I'll buy things I do want to use and enjoy while I'm still kicking around.

There are better ways to make money than holding on to a box in hope of a marginally better return down the line, give or take any fees you may incur selling the item.

True collector's items are rare. So don't worry too much about it.

I always keep the boxes. It just feels wrong throwing them out. Occasionally I'll need one when I sell an item but usually they just sit in a massive pile in a cupboard....

Lucky to have enough storage room to shake a stick at so things inevitably sit for a few years before having a mass burn. Dont often get round to selling things on.

About 400 shoe boxes takes up a fair bit of space though to be fair.

I usually keep the boxes but depends on what it is, most electronic items that are over £50 I tend to keep the boxes up the attic, mainly in case I need to return it for a replacement if it ends up faulty in warranty or I just want to sell it on in the future. Things like flat packed furniture those boxes always get thrown.

Things like PC AIO boxes, GPU's, TV or consoles boxes are always certainly kept. Things like SD card packages even expensive ones always get thrown after a few days.

Once I no longer have the item then I'll always throw the box out. I have so many boxes up my attic ranging from lots of DVD size boxes, toaster size to TV sized ones I could almost fill a room up with them :D

I keep them for ages, claiming to her that we need them. Then inevitably we don’t, and they get chucked out months/years later after carting them around different house moves.

Similar to us, except freckle face won’t let them be thrown away in case the stuff needs to be returned.
Eventually I throw them in the recycling when she’s not looking.
The idea of selling something we no longer need doesn’t enter my head, I give it away or junk it.
When I bought a new smart TV I gave the working perfectly old one to an old folks home.

Jeez, quite shocked by this. You lot sound like your houses are just full of boxes. Only ones I keep are for apple products. Everything else gets recycled as soon as it’s out the box. Usually take the item out then get rid of all the packaging instantly.

I tend to keep most boxes, in case they're useful as packaging for sending things in the post or carrying things round etc, or I need to return the item. Good way of keeping manuals etc somewhere I can find them easily!

However, this tends to end up with to space above my wardrobe and my garage being full of cardboard boxes (my attic is really small, so don't really put much in it), so every now and then I have to go through them. At that point I'm usually quite surprised at just how much cardboard I have managed to accumulate :o, and get rid of whichever ones I think are least useful.

Boxes I'll do my best to keep for the life of the item are for screens & TVs though. If I do move house again at some point or just need to take them somewhere it's so useful having the original box & polystyrene inserts. Would be really difficult to pack effectively otherwise I think.

If its something that i'm likely to sell on one day or has a long warranty, I keep box just in case I need send back for example. Anything else I put in recycle bin.

My LG oled packaging I have left in the loft, takes up loads of room though, but handy to have if I ever sell it on.

I try to be pretty ruthless in getting rid of junk that would otherwise just take up space. With tech stuff I chuck the box once I've tested that it works, except for a couple of PSU boxes which I keep spare leads and stuff in, and my 3080 box which has my old 2070s in (which I'm still not sure what to do with - should probably sell it).

I'll keep boxes for expensive items in case I have to send it back for repair. Some companies can be fussy about boxes.

Other boxes from Amazon or those brown envelopes I'll throw away.
