Do you get rid of your box?

I'm very tight on space. I will keep boxes that I can repurpose. For instance the box for my Dark Rock Pro cooler now has my old Nofan cooler inside. For larger items (e.g. my 27" Acer monitor) I keep the shell of the box but opened up and flattened. The expanded polystyrene insides get chucked. If I need it I can use bubblewrap and packing chips.

My loft is a definite fire hazard with all the cardboard.. I tend to keep boxes for anything I feel might go wrong, or I might want to sell, but as the OP points out, I rarely sell on.. so end up taking up space for no reason!

My study is overgrown now with stuff, I need to have a massive cull, but it's hard to throw away those free fans you get with your case.. I have about 20 of those.. maybe I need to find some charitable outlet for everything...

Depends. For tech/electronic I keep it. Might be needed to send back under warranty of you get a better price selling it used.

Our loft is full of PC/audio boxes :)

Pretty much get rid of all boxes and the boxes I do keep are in the garage roof space.

Have made a couple of mistakes, item failed or a change of heart; yet I have binned the box so I cannot return! :o

The only exception is if its a future collectable. Still sore about skipping all my big box PC games from the nineties.

Box goes in the bin unless it's a nice box that's likely to help resale such as a graphics card.

I've got a big box for the original Half-Life somewhere at my parents house but I fear it may have been binned by now :(

Used to have the boxes for everything, but have gradually got rid of most over the years. Most things have survived a house move or two without them. Sadly I don’t refresh my tech regularly enough to warrant keeping the boxes for computer parts etc.

Depends, if its likely to be resold then the box is kept otherwise its to the landfill. i've got a Sega 32x that used to be boxed, now its worth half its value thanks to my parents throwing out the box from their loft. yet they left an old abit k7 motherboard box....

Still got a few big box pc games stashed. one day, who knows :D

These days I keep them for certain things. All my consoles etc are boxed so I keep everything there. I tend not to bother for anything else unless it's got any kind of resale value, like laptops or PC parts. I used to keep everything years ago when I was at my parents' house and it was quite interesting dealing with the mess in the loft when my parents moved, even though I'd been gone from there for years. This is just one part of the loft - tons of boxes for old Abit boards, Sound Blaster cards, old graphics cards etc:

And just one of many bunches of cardboard after I'd gone through it all:

Since then I've vowed never to let the box situation get out of hand again :) I did find these beauties up there though:

They still work :)

Most boxes I bin, I tend to keep computer part boxes as I sell them when I upgrade.

I think the only boxes I currently have are TV, monitor, phone, PS5 plus current pc part boxes that are inside the case box all stored in the garage.

O I never considered flattening the boxes!

The box is the most useful part. Oh we are talking about packaging. I keep mine to sell stuff or return. I kept my old voodoo 3 card and box and due to this I was able to sell to a collector.
