Do you have a window cleaner?

eg. would window cleaner fix this?

one of those stand-off legs on the ladder would be useful, as I could place ladder, once in centre of windows ... but maybe they don't feel as stable

Clean the sills and frames? Should be standard to do so but many don't and many customers don't care

I am in a bungalow so i bought the Unger branded tools and scrims to do it myself.

They should do the sills unless they are very clean.

Another thing with window cleaners is they operate a turf war system where they all have there patches and you can't get anyone else unless it's a big company.

2 local companies use poles for windows and the other is a traditional ladder guy ...
with the pole system I don't understand what prevents debris and dust accumulating at base of window on seal, plus running off over sill ? (admittedly never watched a full clean)

It’s a constant flow of purified water so the debris will be washed away if the cleaner is doing a good job

Had to get rid of my cleaner. Only did 1/2 the windows because of access issues.
The windows he did do had streaks on them when he was done, bought an extendable pole and squeegee and do it myself. Its a pain but its a better job and only need to do it twice a year. The downstair windows are spotless when you can squeegee it up close

Nope, ours have always been crap. I assume the pay is crap if its a company doing it so we seemed to get a constantly changing guy doing it. We were paying £27 and they were here for all of 15 minutes max. They didn't do a good job either.

was doing some gutter cleaning ... is there a knack to dismantling guttering ?
took moss/sand from trays, but some build up in down pipe - manipulating joints couldn't get clearance on a/b/c to take it apart ...
do you either have to (free-up/lube) down tube to be able to lower that or unscrew top tray, or is there some 'combo' dismantle technique pushing/twisting on a/c together.
ran out of time playing around up the ladder at the weekend

Those downpipes are a pain in the rear to pull apart especially with that bracket being at A. Try separating B but if that doesn’t work then remove the bracket at A to give you more play in the pipe. You’ll have to use a bit of force whichever way ends up working for you

So who's got a window cleaner?

If you do, How often do you get them to clean your windows, what do they include (front only or all windows) and how much do they charge? Be interesting to see how they vary around the country too
Only time i ever had a window cleaner was when i had Windows 7...

Thanks - yes the bracket at A would, as you say, allow dog-leg /b joint to have enough play to disengage;
removing upper tray/T seemed like it might fracture uv saturated clips, but lubing with water maybe it would slide horizontally.

Remove bracket A, bend downpipe to the left to unjoint the dog leg.
yes indeed that worked - seeing the rain tomorrow decided lunch time exercise in the shaded sided of house was requisite ..
no phone picture - no lanyard, ironically last nights rain had washed what I thought was a large blockage mostly away.

We get upstairs windows done for a fiver, three bed semi in Cheshire. Nice chap suffers a bit from tourettes.

I do the downstairs windows myself. Don't have any ladders.

Nice one m8.

A couple of years ago I thought it was a good idea to have our window cleaner do the gutters...... Which was a terrible idea.

He's a lovely chap and really good at windows, but he ended up blocking all the down pipes by just washing all the crap from the gutters rather than scooping the muck out.

So I ended up removing the pipework in the pouring rain then flushing it with the hose pipe up the ladders getting absolutely drenched in the rain. I wasn't happy.

I won't be asking him again.

Yes. However, every time they visit it pees down the next day.

Albeit, I'm hoping they turn up soon as the garden is brown. :p

I know this sounds sarcastic, but you pay for windows to be cleaned and when they rock up and its peeing down. Its like washing a car when its raining.
