Do you have your own towel?

We have a big bunch of towels, they are for anyone to use. They go on rad/banister to dry. They are used multiple times and washed weekly.

No-one monitors their usage. The only exception to this is that no-one ever uses towels used by our 12yo.
 
Yes, but they get mixed in with the rest.

So long as they're washed after use and not dried and put back I don't see the problem, using them after somebody else is a bit gross though.
 
People are happy drying their face on a towel that someone else has flossed with? Eww.. Madness. Own towel thank you very much. Changed once a week (or longer if the girlfriend decides to prove a point by not changing mine and instead waiting until I notice I've been using the same one for two weeks :(:p)
 
Can't believe the OP is actually talking about bath towels.

Bath towels = one per person
Hand towels = shared

You only use a hand towel for drying your hands after washing etc anyway.
 
I have a towel that is mine until it is washed. my mum washes them.

At my house I have my own 2 towels. I wash them myself and no one else uses them. I live with my brother.

hand towels are shared.

Washing your towel after each use is ott. they hardly get dirty and are fine for a few uses before they need a wash. waste of money, time, water and electricty.

I have about 3 on rotation I grab whichever is driest, if my girlfriend is around we both just use the same towels. It is not like we overly care about sharing germs...
 
Not my own per se (though I have one that has my name on) but my wife and I use separate towels but wash them after use then they're fair game to be used by either of us.

We already do.

We have a common supply, and keep it on rolls. When we need some, we remove it from the common supply, at which point, it becomes either his or hers. If you have communal bog paper, I admire your commitment to a green agenda, but feel you might be taking it a bit far. ;)
 
People with separate towels - do you have separate washing machines too? Because if not... guess where all the "yuk" from the other person's towel is going to end up!

Mostly, down the drain with the dirty water before rinsing.

But it misses the point. I like nice, strong manly colours, like maroon or purple, or dark blue. Herself likes delicate, feminine colours like lemon, or peach.

Mostly... exactly! The rest of it ends up all over your towel! EUUUGHH!!

The fact you actually have a preference of towel colour negates any "manly-ness" bestowed by that choice of colour :p

Apparently more often than every 2-3 days destroys the natural oils your skin needs... so unless you sleep in a bath of Dove, you're killing your skin.
I do know of one guy who showers at least 3 times a day (not for medical reasons or anything, according to his Mrs, either) and will put something in the laundry if he's worn it for more than 10 minutes...

I'm guessing they do not - The mere thought of having their bits touching someone else's bits, let alone where tongues and lips might end up, is just TOO MUCH to bear.... which is probably why we have so many Hi-Scores on games and overclockings, here!! :p

I thought it was a long shot getting away with the masculine colour thing. :D

As for the 'contamination' thing, I'll take the risk on anything that might survive the washing machine. I'm well 'ard, like that. ;)

Seriously though, having our own towels is really just habit, routine, rather than fastidiousness. The most useful aspect is that when getting ready, such as for going out, we can both take a shower, usually separately, and be confident of a nice, dry towel awaiting each of us on completion. By next shower, our towel has a chance to dry.
