I love biltong/beef jerky but I hate all the stuff you can buy.
I do however make my own.
Get a cardboard box about 3ft x 3ft or larger (or if you want to do it full time make a wooden box)
Make a hole near the bottom for a small lamp to go inside and put a 60watt light bulb in it.
Get some nice top side/rump or what ever....basically just a very large piece of beef and cut in to large 5-7mm thick strips.
cover the strips in salt for an hour then dip in to cider vinegar. Grind up loads of black pepper and coriander seeds and dip the vinegar covered strip in to the blend.
punch the card board box through the side with a knitting needle thread the beef jerky so its hanging like bats at the top of the box with the light source at the bottom. Seal the box leaving some nice ventilation holes and leave for 3 days.
Cheap beef jerky and 10 times better then anything you can buy....trust me
If you have a fairly warm room you can just hang it up on a line in the room and put a fan on it but i'm sure most people dont want a beef jerky production room.......or do they?
You can try different coating...sweet paprika, chili and honey is lush!!!!
