Do you like Christmas music in shops?

Christmas music is pretty much all atrocious apart from 'driving home for Christmas'. It's invasive, terrible and boring and does not improve shopping experiences even if the shop was only a Christmas shop. Elevator music is similar.

Disclaimer: this is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
Then you got Mud’s Lonely This Christmas and Chris de B(l)urgh’s Spaceman Came Travelling dreary wrist slitting songs. Then have Macca’s Wonderful Christmas Time which is second worst song he has composed- the worst is Frog Chorus.

Love it. I started listening to Christmas music on Spotify in October.

I'm a bit fed up with it now though :D
It’s like those people who put up their tree and decs now and then moan about they are sick of seeing the tree. Moral of the story, don’t put it up early!

Indifferent. Why and how could anyone either like or dislike it?

After the first few hundred times it gets a bit samey.

As a general principle I think it's rude for one person to force their choice of music on other people. I'll tolerate it when I'm shopping, but it does mean I'll try to finish up and leave as quickly as possible. So it's probably counter-productive. But not as much as the business repetitively advertising itself. Also, some businesses play passionless mediocre covers of songs rather than the originals. Cheaper, I suppose. And worse.

The most entertainment I've had with music in my workplace was way back when it was from locally purchased CDs. Someone had heard a song on the radio in their car while driving in and bought the album to use for the music at work. The song was "Don't Marry Her" by The Beautiful South. What they didn't know was that the radio version was altered for censorship reasons and the album version had the original lyrics. Which were not at all subtle. Very nicely sung. But not at all subtle. Full of Naughty Bad Magic Words that are banned on these forums. Played with excellent clarity through the many speakers in my workplace.

I love Christmas. Christmas songs are great but ideally from 01 Dec. Like all other chart type music, played on repeat they get very tedious after 2-3 weeks so too much of a good thing...

Anyway, I took this in The Range on 26th August this year. Their display grew progressively from there over the last couple of months. The staff setting up had some accompanying Christmas songs on a Bluetooth speaker. Total win in my view.

Friend’s wife is on the design team for boy clothes at Next. She was designing Christmas clothes in March! Now doing summer 2022 stuff

I wrote to Morrisons and complained about their 'jolly' Xmas pop music which is both intrusive and aggravating. This is what I got back.

Thank you for taking the time to email us.

Perhaps I might first explain that our research has shown that many of our customers enjoy shopping to music, although I am sure you can appreciate it is very difficult to accommodate the many varied musical tastes of all our customers. In addition, we do have to ensure that the volume is kept to a level which the majority of our customers will find acceptable and hopefully, pleasant.

We do of course take on board your comments and will make adjustments to the volume where necessary.

Once again, thank you for your comments and I am hopeful that despite this issue we may continue to serve you at Morrisons.

Who actually "enjoys" it? It's awful. Still, my fault for going to Morrisons, I suppose.

EDIT: @Zefan likes it :D

My wife hates that song which means that I like it and put it on especially for her. I will then spend the rest of the day doing the frog noises just to aggravate her. :D She is Scottish and rather fiery though so it comes to a end before long as I would like to wake up the next morning and in one piece.

A very polite way of telling you to **** off!

Well, they did say they would lower the volume, and the next few times I went in there before Xmas there was no music, so something happened [either a response to my contact or they just forgot to turn it on].

That's just sloppy work.. There's been no attempt to wrap up any of those big boxes, let alone arrange them under that poorly decorated tree
