Do you like Christmas music played in shops

Its the one time of year I'm really, *really* glad I don't work in retail. I like xmas music some of it at anyrate but having to listen to it all day long every day for two months is enough to drive anyone insane.

My usual stay in a shop is around 5 to 20 mins once a week so it doesn't bother me however if I worked in one and they played the same 40 songs constantly I'd go postal.

One of our many holidays every year is always a week to Benidorm where we hit the entertainment venues.
Day after day, week after week, year after year the staff have to endure exactly the same artists doing exactly the same set while the DJ plays exactly the same songs between artists in exactly the same order.
I have no idea how the staff cope.

Now i've just realised that shops in Spain don't seem to play any music in shops! Didn't occur to me before this thread. Maybe its a British thing...

The mince pies are out now even before the Halloween stuff goes on sale.
They’ve been out for a good month already.

As others said the music doesn’t bother me so much because I only hear it for about 20 minutes absolute maximum. I’d be demented if I worked in a shop though.

Oh yeah, way before they even started the Halloween marketing.

I can confirm this, have a box of Sainsbury's TTD Mince pies here, but I refuse to eat one until December :D

Never, it's cloying and makes the work environment a much worse place. I was lucky enough to only work in a supermarket playing jingles once as a teenager and you could see back then 30+ years ago how much of a negative effect it had on most staff (and probably customers) who feel forced into faking "being happy" so that the absolute minority of actually happy people don't get bummed out by it all. Bah................****ing.....................Humbug

Nearly 40 years ago, I worked as a sales assistant for TopMan over the Christmas period with same old Christmas song loop on over and over for almost 3 months. I am not saying it affected me but even now if I don't hear certain Christmas songs in a certain order my brain fogs up !!

Walking round shops it's not too bad, quite like it, having to work with looped music, as someone who suffers from incredibly bad ear worm syndrome (I've had snippets of songs, going round my head for months at a time) I couldn't do it now.
