Do you navigate away from webpages that have tedious ‘cookie’ pop-ups?

As per thread title.

I do. They are getting sneakier. Sometimes, even if you opt out, there are still a bunch of legitimate interest options selected. Other times, they hit you with a list of 800 ‘vendors’ to deselect.

I end up just not using websites that do this. I’m aware that browser plug-ins that auto-object to cookies can mine other data (including info from emails accessed via the browser) so I generally have no interest in using those.

Of course, pre-GDPR it’s been the case that you’re bombarded by cookies without knowing.

… I suppose the only sane way to navigate the internet is to accept all cookies and clear them every so often / after every browsing session!

Does anyone else find navigating the web increasingly pesky for these reasons?

Very rarely. I don't think most people care about ad trackers and if they do they would take other measures to stop them. Hopefully they'll go away with the revised Data Protection Act. #BrexitBenefit :p

I also just tend to use I still don't care about cookies (the original version is called I don't Care about Cookies but Avast bought it so people forked it way from the Avast version)

It's a massive mess. It really should have been a per-site browser settings with defined defaults from day one. E.g., you go to website, your browser tells it my preference is "never track" or "essential only" and you never have to see a popup.

I'd also consider "Ghostery" as well as a 'belt and braces' alongside uBlock Origin with anything which may escape one being got by the other. Just remember that uBlock has a settings page where you can enable even more blocks which aren't pre-selected at install and you definitely want all of those extra ones ticked.

I've used uBlock Origin and Ghostery for some time now. I keep most lists ticked, however I get issues with YouTube cookies being deleted if I select certain lists, so I keep those unticked. I don't use YouTube signed in, so rely on YouTube's cookies for my viewing recommendations.
