Do you still eat round the table in your house?

Sofas in front of TV unless it's a special meal such as a Sunday roast with all the trimmings. I don't know about you lot but when I eat, I eat; sitting around a table won't stop me eating or start talking.

Don't have room for a Dining table so we eat in front of the TV on the sofa, I really don't mind because we still talk to eachother.

We don't have a dining room, though we do have a large kitchen with a table that can seat 6. I usually eat off it. Err indoors eats in the living room watching tv. No kids so the rules are there are no rules.

Rarely do we sit at the table, main reason is that it's in the kitchen which is much colder than the living room, but also because there isn't much space. When we have enough money to redo the kitchen we'll make room for a nice table and chairs we'll eat there every night.

Instead we eat it off our laps in the living room while we watch something on TV. I don't agree with the whole 'it shows a lack of interest in each other' by watching TV when eating. You can't have a conversation with a mouthful of food, and if you eat slowly it'll be cold by the time you finish!! We live in each other's pockets so we have 6 hours to talk every evening.

It's only me and the missus atm. If we have kids, we will be at the table 100% of the time for sure.

I live on my own and never have people round to eat so I've never even bothered buying a dining table.:o Why waste money on furniture when you can spend it on more interesting things like big screen tv's, amplifiers, speakers and other entertaining gadgetary?!:D

i eat in comfort on the sofa.

as for TVs not inspiring communication well i dont need to eat to communicate and eating is not the only time im with the family.

It's becoming quite expensive to have a dining room - house prices and whatnot. Thing of the past IMO - although there's no argument against the value of eating together, it's getting less practical.

This. My downstairs is just an open plan lounge with kitchen and breakfast bar at one end. All 1 room. So I just eat at the breakfast bar and the computer's there as well. At parents though where they got proper rooms, we always eat together at the table.

All eat at the table every evening together - gives me a chance to teach the children some table manners and etiquette etc! :)

Well.....

We are a family of 5, the 3 kids are 20, 17 and 11 and we have every evening meal at the table and usually have a good chat or laugh about something.

Apart from the occasional breakfast or lunch when we are together, we only eat at the table for the evening meal.

op I find it very strange that you don't eat together more than this you find it a chore!!!! when I'm not on a late shift we always eat together at the table. unless its a takeaway then that's on sofa.

It is chore to eat together at the same table every single night of the week if it's just two of you. Been there, done that.

We like to eat at different times. She likes to eat early evening and I late evening or late night so we just do what we like. And we like our own space, so we eat together at special times and this makes it more valuable.

I'd like to eat at the table but there's no room for one in this house. Last summer we built a quite large area of decking in the garden with some nice garden furniture and used it as a dining room, I'd even go and sit outside to eat my breakfast at the table. Looking forward to the weather improving enough to get it out again.

Sofa only for us. Don't see the point in messing around setting the table etc. So much easier to sit down on the comfy sofa, maybe even with my feet up and enjoy. Don't talk much when I'm eating anyway! :)

Will use the table if having a huge meal or at Xmas, but very very rare.
