Do you update your Bios?

Don't worry coughs, almost at the free postage mark.

In answer to your question though, only if there's a problem or the new bios is said to improve overclocking.

Only when it fixes something, need to update mine, made a horrific mess of the bios splash screen.

Running my UD5 on the shipping bios F7 and never had any of the problems that other people have.

Got my UD5 running that bios too. Not bothered to update it.

Only issue I have is automatic fan controll not working, the fans connected to the mobo run full pelt no matter what, speed fan doesnt work etc. Clocks well though.

UD5 F7 BIOS was pants for me. Huge cursor bug, random black screens, my HTC touch HD wouldn't sync. All cured with an update.

I do and have done so for many years. For the most part they have been virtually pointless, but some things have to be done. ;) That said the last update I did to my current Asus M4A88TD-M EVO/USB3 made the SATA 3 come alive, so to speak. This was easily the most useful thing to happen from any of my BIOS updates, ever. :D

Only one 'flash' has ever gone pear shaped, which was in the last few weeks oddly enough.

tbh with my foxconn, ive had all sort of issues (ram not running at correct speed, mem timings displaying wrong values, nb multi not working, C1e option displaying complete garble to name a few), so i guess as soon as i got the slightest whiff of a release/beta i was all over it. Over time these issues workid themselves out one by one, and the latest release added core unlocking to the mix once more (removed by foxconn eons ago). Only real problem left now is making the third pwm fan header work.

only bad flash ive ever had is when i attempted to use a modded bios. nuff said...

So all in all i suppose i do have valid reasons for updating. But i would probably do it anyway. I like shiny new things.

*falls into trance and wanders off to apple store*

Never done one. I'm currently using a Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H, and the BIOS it came with seems to do me fine, not planning on doing anything with it because I've seen a few forum threads about how dodgy the BIOS releases have been for this bored.

i just upgraded to fd from fb on this board because it was freezing at post screen

I always update, never had any problem, nor have my mates who do the exact same. I like to have the latest version with bugfixes...

Some really fix stuff and add support... so why not? Just make sure you note down important settings you have made so you can reinstate them later once flashed...
