Do you use a controller?

I just recently bought a PS3 Dualshock 3 controller (even though I don't own a PS3!) for my laptop, works great providing you get the correct drivers. Got it using Bluetooth too. Make sure you already have a USB cable to charge it with (the one I got with my PSP works), as they don't provide one with it!

I used to have a PS2-USB adapter but it doesn't work under Windows 7 64-bit and the cheap Saitek thing I bought just didn't cut it. Personally you can't beat the PS controller, I've used it for so long on my PS1/2 that it fits like a glove :)

I mainly use mine for emulation and a few games off Steam that do better with a controller. It gets a bit difficult with driving games and some platformers just using the keyboard. I'm playing Rocket Knight on Steam a lot currently, need to get those achievements!

Do pc support the vibrations from the controller?

When I was playing the mafia 2 demo thats when I started to miss my controller.. does anyone agree?

I too have a PS3 Dual Shock 3 connected to my laptop via Bluetooth. You can get PS3 pad drivers for it, search for motion in joy, there is a website out there that details how to get it up and running, and even emulate xbox360 native pad support for games that support xbox360 pads on PC.

Or you can buy a 360 wireless pad controller and use a 360 pad.

I can’t use keyboard for driving games, I use a pad for pretty much most of my games, even fps if the game supports it, such as metro 2033 etc…

And motion in joy drivers for a DS3 pad will support vibration or so will the xbox360 pad if the game supports it.

Depends if what you're playing supports it but if your controller has a rumble feature and the drivers enable that, then it should work. I know my PS3 controller works fine with it because everytime I plug it in or forget I have on boot up, it bloody vibrates loads on the desk and nearly kills me from shock!

Mine does that too if I leave it connnected via a USB cable and boot up... but if I press the PS button to wake it up, and not use the USB cable, I at least know it will do this in my hand, and not rumble in the desk or sofa etc. Motion in joy drivers uses the PS button to wake the pad up when using bluetooth, quite handy. Problem is, I tend to fire a game up after booting my laptop up, and I've forgot to press the PS button and I have to re-load the game.. Using bluetooth is great, wireless pad gaming, just need to remember to wake it up when needed... lol

Sadly, PC games don't always know when you've just connected the pad, so it needs to be listed in game controllers before you load the game... not a huge problem though.

I use a steering wheel for racing games and a joystick for HAWX but I don't use a gamepad, much prefer keyboard + mouse

I use a xbox 360 controller for games such as dirt 2/grid/devil may cry 4 and PRO EVO 09.

I Just cannot use the controller for fps games, it just feels counter intuitive and slow. I have a great idea of making the rumble feature available for the mouse so you get more immersed in gaming :-) when playing fps!

I use a 360 wireless pad for some games, mainly console ports. Support for modern games is great and the rumble feature works for most.

Xpadder sorts out configs for games that don't supply it and you can even map analog sticks. I used that to play Mario 64 again in an emulator :)

I have a PS3 and Xbox 360 controller can someone explain how I use them on the pc wirelessly on mafia 2/grid

I use the controller for third-person games and 2D platformers (e.g. Braid works great with it).

Yes, Rumble is supported, and the type of controller is a wired Xbox 360 one.

I use 360 pads a lot, and I find it utterly retarded when the PC equivalents to console games don't support them (Mass Effect 2 I'm looking at you).

These actually exist, Unreal Tournament 2004 supported it. It died off almost as soon as it came on the scene though.

Ooo that irks me too. Bioshock 2 another classic example. Someone released a Mass Effect 360 pad patch, sadly it doesn't work too well. The HUD is all changed for the PC version, I actually found the 360 version better then the PC version, less complicated. But then, someone will say PC is not dumbed down, whereas consoles are. I don't care. I want games to entertain me, not confuse me... lol
