Do You Walk To Work ?

I probebly would at that distance in fact did when I lived in Yorkshire.
Work in Padstow so in theory I could go on camel trail but still full time, why I don't know as I'm older than you, mortgage free and decent savings but I understand the connection thing, I think I may try go part time myself (although I have finished for Easter and posting from polzeath so can't complain too much)

I am just under 4k from work so usually cycle but do have the odd day were i walk to work takes me about 50 minutes.

At my previous job I walked everyday as I don't drive. Just over 3 miles trip each way, so a little over 2 hours walking time per day.

Same as you, mortgage free and decent savings, i've kinda just taken it for granted.

When I think about it though my car doubles as my canteen at tea break and lunch, the work one is tiny and has a toilet in there, not ideal especially with distancing as we get lots of temps in.

In my previous lifetime, my commute was 3 miles. The first 2.5 miles by bus, them the rest on foot.

Nowadays however, I do walk to work but it's only approx. 35 steps from bedroom to desk.

So I had a 20 year break from driving but when my dad passed away almost two
years ago he left me his car.
but i really dislike driving and i am considering walking to work and selling the car instead.
it would take me 40 minutes (2.1 miles) to walk there and the same back.
I'm semi retired so i only do 3 days a week (18 hours).

I'm 46 and it will help keeping fit.
does anyone else walk to work? do you think 40 minutes is to long or do others walk longer?

not bothered about getting wet i have a waterproof coat and a gold umbrella :D

so who else walks to work ?

I used to walk (about 25 mins). It was fine for a while but it I started to get really bored of walking the same route over and over. It also sucked when it was wet and windy. Got myself a bike and now cycle instead. That 25 minutes journey is now 10 - much better.

I used to but like a lot of people we ditched the city life and moved to outskirts. Not really sure on how we're going to commute yet as neither of us been to office for over a year and likely we'll continue to mostly work from home even once things are back to "normal".

Used to cycle a 50 mile round trip, last job was a 6 mile round trip run. Current job is home based so I run on my dinner break instead.

the main reason i am questioning it is although my shift is only 6 hours long (carehome)
i don't stop for a break or eat i simply don't have time.
lucky to get a drink of water/cup of tea :D
only 9 years to go until i fully retire.
i do like my 3 days even if its tiring but its my only connection to the real world.

If you're running around all shift then I'd potentially not walk. I lived less than 2 miles from asda when I worked there but I'd very rarely walk as I'd then be stood up and running around for 8 hours once I got there.

I miss that job as I could eat anything and everything without putting on any weight.

40 minutes walking would be too long for me.

I'd be biking that.

My previous job was 80 miles each way, so driving was pretty much a necessity. My current job is only 8 miles away though, and whilst I have walked it before I cycle now. Canal towpaths are great, I get on the towpath just down the road from my house and then get off the towpath just down the road from work.
