I know this is a pet hate of a lot on the forum, so this will give you some pleasure :) £30 fine for having my front fogs on tonight.

This is the God's honest truth - I had only turned them on 10 seconds before getting done :) How unlucky was that :) I did the crime and I paid the fine, no complaints.

For the record, I'm not someone who uses them much. I have in the past (not in the future) used them when it's a really dark street, when it's heavy rain, and when it's a really tight street as I've found that people give you more room. I know it's wrong, and I've paid the price. Wanted to post it here as it's a bit of a pet hate amongst many, so you can get some sense of satisfaction :)
 
Shoulda driven around here, you really did need them for once. :p

Still, no excuse for having them on when its clear, I've upset many a "moron" by giving them hand gestures ;)
 
I have had to use both front and rear fog lights tonight visibility has been terrible around Liverpool/St Helens.

Tonight - was reason 3. A really tight street and folk give you more room if you have fogs on. I think it must make the car seem bigger. I know it's wrong, but that was the reason - no point lying and making excuses :)
 
People who do this drive me mad. It's all over the roads now, even the local BUS COMPANY drives more or less its entire fleet around with foglights blaring out. Meet one coming the other way at night on a deserted country lane and you can't see a thing - just a blare of light.

Fair enough at least you are honest. :)

I sometimes put them on when it is dark and there are no street lights, prefer fogs to full beam. :)

Honestly mate? I have to say, I don't find fog lamps blind me. Properly fitted lamps point down towards the road and I don't find them obtrusive at all. I am much more affected by HID lights which really go for my eyes.

last year, fogs did pee me off no end, but now i just think the people that use themin clear weather are just shouting 'look at me - i'm driving the model up from poverty spec model and just wanted to show off about it.', same as people who have their xenons on during the day. I personally wish the police would push the £30 fine more coz more and more people are using their fogs these days, even old farts :D

Meet a double decker bus coming the other way with headlights AND fogs on and yes, it blinds you.

Plus depending on the angle of the road, it's like it on some cars as well. They are brighter than headlights.

People give you more room becuase they suddenly think 'ARGHGH! Turkey with his fogs on' and dive for the side of the road, after all, if they look directly at you they probably can't see much.
 
haha i think its more retarded when you get people drving around with rear fog lights on.... a week after the fog has lifted


i recon most of them drive about with fogs on to be cool. i cannot see how it could be cool at all
 
To be honest, considering I've been driving for 16 years now, I think I've got off quite lightly with a £30 fine in all that time :)

What car do you drive? The seating position in my MR2 is so low than even poor aligned dip-beamed headlights make my eyes scream, let alone fox lights on a bus or 4x4 vehicle.

BAN THEM i say :p
 
In order of annoyance: -


1) Rear fog lights - Really ****** me off. Usually let them know. ;) They're so bright I feel like a moth, it's all you can bloody look at!


2) HID Head Lamps, even manufacture ones. Flickering, horrible blue tinge, blind the **** out of me. Even expensive BMW/Audis with factory fitted lights to do this. Aftermarket fitted HID kits are even worse.


3) Front fog lights. Doesn't really blind me at all. Think it's mainly just a jump on the band wagon type of argument now from the all the barry boys driving around town with them on.


But seriously, most HID kits are brighter than people's full beam! Why the hell are they legal?
 
Two types of people drive with fog lamps on during normal conditions:

a) Chavs in hatchbacks (with a few kevs & barrys in the back usually)
b) Simpletons (who just don't really fully understand the concept of driving, what is around them etc).

At least you admit you did wrong, I just hope more people get fined :)
 
I'm not even sure why they're fitted. I've used my front fogs once in nearly 10 years of driving. Rear fogs actually annoy me more. They're designed to help you be seen in low visibility so when someone comes up behind you turn them off ffs. It's not like they're suddenly going to forget you're there.

Front fogs also help you to be seen in foggy weather. I advise using them, that's what they're for.
