Belkin do some cases and protectors, search for Belkin and Zune.

Seen the offical ones as well and these looked abit better.

Nope, the Zune 1 software was just a reskinning of WMP11 and was universally bashed. This new software is much better though I have found it can get it's knickers in a twist with album covers if you rip with something else directly to the Music folder.

Never used the old one the only problem with the new one is the tagging options and tools are limited.

I managed to corrupt the heck out of my libary by retagging some MP3s and adding new ablum art in WMP11 while i had the zune up and running.

Theres a nice little app for reseting the whole thing and fixing the corruption but i had to blank my zune and resync my collection afterwards.

Does anyone have the zune 8gb?

I really want an mp3 player, and after a few hours on google, i've ended up with the zune.

Few questions.

  1. Can you easily delete tracks off the zune? (Can't for the life of me find out how to delete tracks off the ipod with itunes:mad: )
  2. Is there any other difference between the 8gb and 80gb zunes other than storage capacity?

In answer to your first question. You just delete the music file/album with the delete key and then just re-sync your album and it will be gone from your zune :) Not sure about your 2nd question though :).

Thats the problem i have with gf ipod. She sync LOADS of songs on my laptop, now she wants to add a cd she bought, how the hell can you do that on her pc? And how can she delete a single song off the ipod on her pc?

Or for this to work, do they have to use the same pc everytime and the music has to stay on that pc all the time?

You can just sync one file over if you so wish. All you have to do is just right click the file that you want to transfer and just sync that individual file over, it doesnt interfere with anything else. Mine hasnt since I've got mine in the post this morning anyway!

Just found the above sites for crystal cases if anyones interested, it comes to around £13inc p+p. I think I'll be picking myself one of them up when I ahve the cash!

Cos as far as i remember, on the ipod, if you sync it, it copies all the music folder on the pc over to the ipod. But if she goes home and puts a new cd onto her own pc, then syncs it, all the music she put on at my house on my pc will get erased off her ipod. Because the songs wern't on her pc at home.

I can't figure it out lol. I hope zune isn't like that

You can set it to manually sync, so if you only want to sync the CD it shouldnt delete all the files on the Zune as its only connecting with that CD. I know what you mean though, I've had an ipod for around 2 years, and it just went bust!

Thanks for the help! So is there anyway i can delete single songs off ipods then? Bear in mind my pc is now music free because its formatted. I take it if i sync the ipod now it will just wipe?

In the same position, how would you delete single tracks/albums off the zune? (If my pc has been formatted or im using a different pc away from home)

PS that blue crystal case looks the business ;)

Not sure, I belive the ipod would just be wiped clean if you connected it to the formatted PC. Theres probably a way around it though.

I'm guessing its the same, you set it to manually sync in the Zune software before you connect the Zune player. You can then just right click the album/track/video or what ever it is and click delete, it will then delete only them files from your Zune library.

I'm going for the Crystal one myself. I'll be watching movies etc you soo :p

Oh right, so when its set to manuall sync you can actually accecc the zunes hdd and it will show up whats on it, then you can delete it off. Because you can't even do that on ipods (well i cant find out how anyway :P )

Cheers for the help

Whilst you can't view the Zunes HD in explorer etc you can browse whats on it from the software. I'm guessing you can treat songs as you would videos.

With vidoes you can set it so you manually choose which to sync and then you have an option to 'remove from Zune'. The vidoes stay on the PC but are removed from the player. As the Zune 80 comes with preinstalled songs and vidoes you can choose when you get it to copy them to the HD then remove them.

Sorry made that sound more complicated than it is; hope you get what I'm saying and it answers your question.

I think i understand. I'd probabally be using my pc and laptop and syncing wireless 90% of the time.

It's pretty easy to go into the zune software and delete a single track or an album?

With an ipod, you have to delete the file from the pc when re-sync the ipod. But what if you are away from home on a different pc, or a your pc is formatted and non of the songs thats on your player are on the pc, i just can't understand how i can remove a single song from the ipod any other way.

This is what i dont want with zune, i want to be able to plug it in, access whats on my zune with software or whatever means, and just click "delete".
