Does anyone else get annoyed

All the time that the benifits combined are more than the average wage, who in their right mind would get a badly paid job which pays virtually nothing over collecting benifits which pay much more, and be able to bum around at the same time.

Someone with absolutely no self worth or self respect? Someone with no sense of "doing the right thing"?

I know a girl, and her sister works 8 hours a week, and her husband chooses not to work. They have 2 kids, and through a combination of whatever benefits, tax credits, housing benefit etc- they have a nice 3 bedroom house, car, sky tv, etc. I find that disgusting.

There is many more "sucess" stories like that in London. I dont find it disgusting, if anything i admire them for using the society legally to their own gains. Perhaps if the laws and scheme is fixed, there wont be stuff like this about.

Yes i do agree and see what you are saying. In reality, what do you want the governemt to do? There is limited work when we take account of those who wants to work or not. So, in effect their will always be the unemployed (including those who really wanna work but cant get jobs and those who can but just dont want to) which the society have to look after.

If we want a change, i suppose we might have to go back to the grass root level and change one or two policies and set certain laws...

I agree with what you say - but its a completely free lunch for these people just now.

If you collect unemployment, you should be forced to work for the state - things like cleaning the streets, removing graffiti, painting public buildings, cleaning up dumping sites, maintaining parks, etc. etc..

As it stands, you can sit on your lazy arse, collecting benefits, housing benefits, child benefits, tax credits et al, and you don't have to even leave your house.

That sounds a little crazy... Whilst they're just "playing the system" according to the rules the government lays out, people like that will never really do anything with themselves or their life... not just financially, but more than likely spiritually and culturally too.

They don't need or want our pity, but it's sad in a way.

Not really, I have more pressing things on my mind :)

Same here and even if i did whinge, moan and bitch about it...i dont think anything would be done to make things better..well thats my opinion.

For an example of these people, just watch the Jeremy Kyle show in the mornings. Such a good advert for the UK for the tourists to watch in their ly-ins when visiting our 'great' nation

Not everyone that goes on the show is a benefit scrounger or lives in a council flat. Im sure also that tourist in their right mind will admit that their nations have issues too.
