I ask this because ive been browsing through the Autotrader and ive found out that u can get BMW M3s for less then what i can get 318is here

Would there be many extra fees for importing a car from the UK to Australia?
Does anyone know of the german prices of M3s and cars like that?
Oh how i would love to live in the UK :p

why would you love to live here?
you must be fooled by the car prices :P

do you drive on the right side of the road or would a rhd car be a problem?

I think we drive on the same side.
The steering wheel is on the Right hand side of the car so i think that must mean we drive on the left. That always confuses me :p
If i did import one the speedo will have to be converted because we have the metric system inplace down here :)

You need to own the car for 2 years otherwise VAT time (well when dad looked at it it was)

Import tax

Also about £900 shipping to New Zealand so roughly the same for transporting

Then you need to reg + Mot it

Are you comparing like with like here becuase I doubt you are - I can show you 318's in the UK that are more expensive than M3's but they wont be the same age/shape :)

1.00 AUD Australia Dollars = 0.424961 GBP United Kingdom Pounds

1 GBP = 2.35316 AUD

Owch, wouldnt you be better off with a homemade Holden ?

The Euro is a weaker currency so if your serious, Germany is definetly worth checking

Japan is worth checking out for different reasons, a second hand car from there could make great sense. They are bound to have a couple old M3's or 3 series

Nah im compearing the same year and shape M3s to 318s :)

And to who ever said wouldnt it be better to get a home made holden. Well ive hated holdens since i was young. The older holdens have what u call chavs driving them in abundence these days :p

I would much rather a german car then anything australia can put out :)

Edit: Why would i have to own it for 2 years  Is there anyway u could bypass that?

Thanks for the list. I dont think there are that many countrys in that list that would beat the UK price for BMWs though :p

But if there are dont hold back form telling me :)

Hong Kong is more then a city, its a province I think. Obviously the history there is why its RHD still.

You could still order a RHD from Germany its just a bit more involved, not sure where they actually make the cars but it can be done.

the last time i checked the cheapest place to order a new RHD european spec car was Portugal....although the most popular place to do this is Holland as pretty much everyone is fluent in english so the process is just so much easier.

Thank you very much for telling me about holland and portugal. Ill start looking for places from there now :)

Edit: Do portugal and holand use the metric or imperial system?

you can order a specific EU countries spec car from any other EU country.
just remember this applies mainly to new vehicles as obviously there won't be many UK spec used cars in Holland,Portugal or anywhere other than the UK.

RE metric you can order a new UK spec car and it will be exactly the same as if you'd walked into a UK dealer and ordered it.

What are usally the difference between other EU spec cars from other EU countrys and the UK?
Thanks for being so helpfull, its really appritiated :)
