Does anyone name there rig?

Only a network name, I don't refer to it as that when I'm discussing it with someone for example. I use names of places from a book series by Raymond E. Feist to name machines on my network. This PC is called krondor, my others are things like sethanon, sarth, landreth, rillannon, crydee etc.

All Macs in the house have names (some are real geeky in-jokes like an Apple laptop called Pismo) however my sons PC is simply called Toms-PC.

Once I've finished building my new PC it will get a name. Right now it's in a state of not-quite-built and has a broken SSD so it's just called " That bloody expensive pile of ****"

:D

Not at my current house, at my dads house they we're named after computers in sci-fi films so we had

Orac
Mother
R2D2
Holly
Cassandra

Sergeant Spie: What’s this rig’s name, Private Fenris?
Private Fenris: Sir, the Private’s rig’s name is Charlene, sir!
Sergeant Spie: Private Fenris, you are definitely born again hard. Hell, I may even allow you to serve as a techy in my beloved OcUK.
Private Fenris: Sir, yes, sir!

My main computer has always been called 'Beastie', though it's changed case, motherboard and gpu (interesting questions about identity etc etc).

When I had a Mac it was called 'Cecil', which sounded somewhat suitable.

The SR-2 build I did with a mate is called Titanicus Juggernaut.

my old laptop has been called loads of things: PoS; you stupid piece of junk; ****hole; etc

*edit*
thanks for fixing mods, and noted for later :)

My rig used to be called Deepwater Horizon, unfortunately it had an accident with some water and oil recently :(

In reality I don't name my comuters IRL, however they have network names (along with my phone) which are various relevant Cadburys chocolate products... :o

Origin: I built a computer just for crunching Seti data and decided to call it "crunchy" then I decided to carry on the naming convention with my main computer called "Cream Egg" and my phone called "Mini Egg", no idea what my laptop is called at the moment though...

Called mine Beatrice :), this is only as i have modded it to talk like an intercom system when powered on, saying "Systems Online".

And i politely reply with, thanks Beatrice.

Only joking though, its still called Beatrice, and is neither Male or Female, its neutral.

Only the hard drives, not the machine itself.
