All the computers in our network are named after Star Trek ships.
Mine is called Thunderchild, Mum's is called Voyager, Laptops called Defiant, Ipod called delta flyer etc etc you get the idea.
I have 3 PCs all with different cases, so to make them easily definable on the local network they are all named after their cases, P183, V351 and Veris.
What I do is I name my machines on the network (if possible) in logical names so I know what machine it is, I have PS3, PSP, iPhone, IBM, Dell and Server
Until recently my main PC was always called Silver-Machine, a tradition that has gone back 8 or so years. Then I finally went over to black cases, with my most recent build. I call this one Fanboy-Folly. It's certainly been an expensive one so far...
Once I get my HTPC project off the ground, that will take up the proud Silver-Machine moniker once more.
