Prior to RVP getting injured last season, he was well on the way to scoring 20+ goals. But thats the problem. RVP has yet to go through a season at Arsenal without picking up any injuries.
Worst case scenario is Ade going off to the African Nations Cup and then RVP getting injured. That would leave Bendtner, Theo and Eduardo as are our only forward options.
But our problem last season wasn't the goals from our forwards but more the lack of from midfield.
I think RVP should get 20+ goals this season. If Ade can chip in with 10-15, Eduardo a similar amount then that should be fine from our forwards, providing the goals are also contributed from midfield. I'd expect Gilberto to make a similar contribution to last season. Cesc's target should be 10 goals minimum and he's capable of that. The lad had over 50 shots on goal last season and only scored 2 in the league. But Hleb and Rosicky really have to step up this season.
Hleb has never been a goalscorer and I wouldn't expect him to get more than 5 goals a season. He got a lot of slack from gooners last season but he was creating and setting a sackful chances only for the rest of the guys to squander in front of goal. He really needs an attacking fullback playing behind him every week though to provide the width that he doesn't as he likes to drift in. As long as he can continue creating opportunities then I don't have a problem, providing the others put the ball in the back of the net.
Rosicky has to step up with more goals. He had a bit of a stop start season due to injuries and I hope a decent, injury free run in the team will remedy this.
If our mid fielders have another goal shy season then thats going to put huge demands again on the forwards. So rather than 20 goals from RVP and 10-15 from Ade and Eduardo, RVP would have to turn into a 30 goal a season striker, Ade to do something he's clearly not capable of (20 goals) and Eduardo expected to score 20 goals in his first season in the Prem.
