does arsenal need more strikers?

Adebayor is a good stand in but no more. Unless Eduardo is first choice with RvP and starts scoring straight away then we definately need someone else. Personally im not holding any hopes of him doing that nor am i confident of Wenger buying another striker, in fact i wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt sign anyone else at all :(.

It depends if the midfield can add goals. Cesc should really get 10 a season.

Also it depends on how quickly Eduardo settles, I don't think Bendtner or Walcott should play too much. Of course it's possible Eduardo may play on the left.

He runs hard and certainly puts the effort in but he lacks quality and composure, his first touch can be shocking. Not someone i'd want to rely on at all and he isnt good enough to be a starter.

As you said though the midfield needs to contribute more too, I'm expecting more from Cesc, Hleb and Rosicky.

hi

i personally think wenger should not buy anymore strikers as 5 is plenty , espicially if edebeyor ups his game and eduardo scores like he did at his old club.

i think perhaps a winger who can play both sides and a defender who can play both sides like bakari sagna , i think the later would help a lot because it would give cover for clichy and mean gallas can stay in his favoured postion. :)

Adebayor reminds me a lot of Kanu. Very unorthodox player but not too bad.

Van Persie will bag between 15-20 next year and I think he will do really well. Given the ammount of money that Arsenal paid for Wallnut then you would expect him to feature more this season also. I think Arsenal will get another forward though. You can see Wenger likes the idea of a deep 2nd striker in someone like Reyes & Baptista. It just hasn't worked for the pair of them. Maybe someone like Gudjohnson or Saviola at a reasoable price ?

Prior to RVP getting injured last season, he was well on the way to scoring 20+ goals. But thats the problem. RVP has yet to go through a season at Arsenal without picking up any injuries.

Worst case scenario is Ade going off to the African Nations Cup and then RVP getting injured. That would leave Bendtner, Theo and Eduardo as are our only forward options.

But our problem last season wasn't the goals from our forwards but more the lack of from midfield.

I think RVP should get 20+ goals this season. If Ade can chip in with 10-15, Eduardo a similar amount then that should be fine from our forwards, providing the goals are also contributed from midfield. I'd expect Gilberto to make a similar contribution to last season. Cesc's target should be 10 goals minimum and he's capable of that. The lad had over 50 shots on goal last season and only scored 2 in the league. But Hleb and Rosicky really have to step up this season.

Hleb has never been a goalscorer and I wouldn't expect him to get more than 5 goals a season. He got a lot of slack from gooners last season but he was creating and setting a sackful chances only for the rest of the guys to squander in front of goal. He really needs an attacking fullback playing behind him every week though to provide the width that he doesn't as he likes to drift in. As long as he can continue creating opportunities then I don't have a problem, providing the others put the ball in the back of the net.

Rosicky has to step up with more goals. He had a bit of a stop start season due to injuries and I hope a decent, injury free run in the team will remedy this.

If our mid fielders have another goal shy season then thats going to put huge demands again on the forwards. So rather than 20 goals from RVP and 10-15 from Ade and Eduardo, RVP would have to turn into a 30 goal a season striker, Ade to do something he's clearly not capable of (20 goals) and Eduardo expected to score 20 goals in his first season in the Prem.

Didn't Ferguson enquire about Adebayor in January and was politely told to go away?

Thanks for the email btw. :) Much appreciated dude.

So is Reyes coming back to Arsenal? Don't know why Arsenal don't snap up Saviola as long as he wants to go there. Would be a very useful player.

Reyes will go on the run in Spain before returning to London. I think the end of the season with Madrid dissolved any chance of him wanting to go back to Arsenal. He's a good player and looks like he's put on a bit of weight too so he's not as easily knocked off the ball. But maybe with the departure of Henry, he sees an opportunity. I'd still say it's unlikely as he's wanted to play in Spain all his career.
